Pink Flowers In My Yard

I recently sold my home to a somewhat younger couple (mid fifties I guess). That old house needed a bunch of work. We all (humans, houses etc) do tend to deteriorate with age, don't we? It worried me a bit that perhaps after they moved in they would be dis-enchanted with it's charm as they faced one repair after another.

I was so happy to learn yesterday that they LOVE the house, faults and all. I know I am in a good place for me at this time in my life. And, it's such a blessing to know that my home will be loved and cared for since I couldn't anymore.

I want to share some pretty flowers from days gone by....
They once graced my yard at that house.

This huge plumeria (potted so I could bring it in for the winter) reminded me of our stay in Hawaii.

I had two of these beautiful planters that mark the corners of my patio.

The heavenly scent of these stargazer lilies greeted me every time I went out the kitchen door.

Sweet little dianthus grew under the kitchen window.

My azalea garden

Beautiful pink petunias hung from the kitchen window box.

and sedum bloomed along the fence.

Today I am linking with TODAY'S FLOWERS and PINK SATURDAY. Just posting this little tribute to the pink flowers I used to grow at my 'other' home.

  4. Dear friend, I can so relate...when we sold our house of 40 years a couple yrs ago, I knew for certain it was the right thing for us to do...still....so many memories were made there....we raised both children...then the grands came along and stayed with us a lot in that house...Mr. Sweet built so many things that had to stay ....my yard was our proud and joy...my neighbors, some there before us so we were friends for a long long time...I won't ever stop missing it...and, like you, a young couple with a little baby bought the house, the little baby took her first steps in "my" livingroom...they love the house and are making memories right and left. bwaaaaaa

  5. Dear Latane, thank you so much for linking with Today's Flowers. Your photos are gorgeous. I especially loved the plumeria as it reminded me of Hawaii and I can still remember its beautiful perfume. I am happy for you that you found a nice couple to give your home some tender loving care. Ours needs TLC also but I am also finding that as we get older all these fix-ups become increasingly difficult, and as we are in our 60's now, we had better get cracking :) have a great weekend :)

  7. Oh how wonderful to know your house is being loved. The new owners of my home of 30 years ripped out every plant in the front gardens four years ago and never replaced them. It's all grass and dirt. I am still stunned. I love all your pink flowers, I had stargazer lilies there too.

  10. Glad they are loving the house...I knew they would! Your grand-daughter said she'd love to own a house like it someday. It's the perfect "grandparents house." But there always comes a time when life needs to be much more simple than the upkeep of a big old house can afford! I can't be happier that you are doing well and enjoying the place where you live. Now the burden of the older house is gone and you can really relax. It was a great house "in its season."

All those beautiful pink flowers! I especially love those stargazer lilies. Have an awesome week! I should be back to "full" blogging again by Wednesday or Thursday.

  11. Your flowers are beautiful, Latane. I know you miss your former home, but I'm sure it's a good feeling to know that someone is there that will love it, too. I think about moving sometimes, this is not exactly my dream home, but I love the little bit of acreage we have with it and the views and the fact that it just feels like home. So we'll probably stay here when BG retires, but our son would like for us to live closer to him. Don't know if I can live in the city where he is.
Take care and have a good week!
