Friday Happenings

Today is my fellow's birthday. We have been "a couple" for 4 1/2 years now and it's been good years. And, hey, it's Friday. So, let's celebrate.

Tanya's Willy Nilly Friday
Five On Friday

Every spring (it's been three now) since I moved into my apartment, I have been watching a doe come around the pond to feed and water. When the fawn are big enough, she brings them, too. But, they are on the backside of the pond!! But, yesterday, she was just across the road at my end of the pond. I was so excited for her to be so close.

We played bingo last night and I won a game. That was pretty exciting!

I didn't feel well yesterday and sort of sat around a lot. I dragged out my pastels and within a few minutes had produced this.

A bunch of wasps have been drinking out of the hummingbird feeder and even chasing off the birds. So, the other afternoon I got a small piece of paper, folded it and swatted at the wasp. Only, did I not  hit the wasp, my feeder went flying off the hook and fell three floors to it's demise. It's time to buy a new feeder!!!

Daughter Shirley and I have another post on our new BLOG. Be sure to check it out. We love having you visit!!

  4. Oh how exciting to have the deer come to your side of the pond! Great shot! And I love your daffodil (hope you are feeling better!) Had to laugh about the dead wasp and the subsequent dead feeder! :-) Wasps and bees can be an issue with the feeders, and it's so hard to know what to do. Maybe there is a wasps nest on the building closeby that the complex owners could find and get rid of. At any rate, try a glass feeder next but make sure it's tied on there better...I'd hate for a glass hummingbird feeder to bomb someone below! :-)

  6. How wonderful to be so close to that deer and to have hummingbirds feed from your feeding. It does sound like you need a new one now though

  10. That doe is so pretty, how neat she comes every year.
Oh that's sad about your feeder. I've got one but as yet only had 1 hummingbird briefly stop by. Your pastel flower is lovely.

  15. Go on how do you do it? I have this picture of crazy mad wasps, flying hummingbird feeders and amidst it all is you serenely drawing a daff whilst a doe is watching from the pond, waiting statuesquely for you to snap a gorgeous photo. Love it! :)
Hope you all enjoyed the birthday celebrations!

  20. A belated happy birthday to your fellow! I have enjoyed exploring your blog and just purchased the Kindle version of your book. I found your blog through Amy's Link Up and look forward to getting to know you better, and already know that we have some common interests. I love seeing your deer and am sorry about the demise of your hummer feeder. Ants invaded one of my hummer feeders and I tried putting petroleum jelly around the edges of the feeding holes, which helped discourage the ants, but might not work for wasps. I am 65 and post from near Portland, Oregon, on my blog, One Saylor's Log. I love your daffodil and am experimenting with sketching and using watercolors and coloring in "Inspire." Wishing you well!
