Helen, Georgia

                                                                   Hi Gang,

                                                                I'm back!!

Great trip!! So, for the first post I will share some pictures of our trip to Helen, Georgia. A fun little town, great food at the Country Barbeque, shopping galore ~~ yep, we had fun. And, it all happened, thanks to Les' DILs who were our trip partners.

As we drove northeast from Cumming, we began to see the mountains. Since I live in such flat country, this was a welcome sight.

Soon we came to Helen, a little German village, right in the midst of North Georgia mountains.   Helen was a sleepy little town that people passed through on their way to bigger and better things so in 1969 some businessmen got the idea on how to draw in the tourist trade. Their idea grew into a charming little town where crowds congregate to have fun, eat, shop and enjoy themselves.

I love the colorfully decorated buildings, some 'omp-pa-pa' music going in the background and a sweet hug.

How beautiful is this!

More beautiful flowers!

                                                                  Cider, anyone?

Or perhaps, Jam?

Leslie and his daughters-in-law taking a break. So, it becomes a photo op for me!

I loved this display of cute little green frogs. I didn't buy one!

We were in Georgia for a week. Going to Helen was just one of the days. More to come!

                                                                                                               I missed you guys!

  3. You were very close to our new home. In fact, the first photo on your blog today is Mount Yonah, which I climbed when I was in jr. college at Cleveland Georgia. Helen has been a favorite place to visit ever since my college days in the n. GA mountains. Hopefully we will have a colorful fall.
Thank you for sharing these fun photos of your visit. I hope you all had an enjoyable time.

  6. Beautiful pictures. I love to go on day trips now. I have too many animalsl to be gone more than that without it being a hassle. I'm so glad you're blogging again. I have days too that I can't think of a lot of words. I have subjects in mind but the words just don't flow. Other days, I can just type and type! Strange how that happens as we age.
