I decided to look back at my year and figure it all out. Come to think of it, it was a good year!
In January daughter Shirley and I 'escaped' to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for a quick birthday celebration for me! Quite an adventure!
In February Shirley and I headed to New York to visit my youngest daughter. It came a big snow. We don't have a lot of snows in Virginia and certainly not that big.
I took a photography class in March. Not sure it helped any but it was fun.
In April Shirley and I were back down on the Outer Banks (Nags Head this time) at a week-long scrapbooking crop. A houseful of women, the ocean waves crashing on the shore, tables set up for scrapbooking - which went on way into the night. Fun, fun, fun.
June... Leslie and I took at trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Beautiful, quiet, peaceful... perfect.
I flew down to visit with my sister in Alabama in July. Not the best time to visit the south because of the temperature but her air-conditioner worked just fine!
Leslie and I were back on the Blue Ridge Parkway in August. A little too early for the fall leaves but we had such a good time.
We had such fun, too, in September on a trip to Cumming and Helen, Georgia.
Halloween is October 31st. It was warm enough so that I sat in my front yard to pass out candy to great-grandson, Dylan, and a ton of other trick or treaters.
My son and daughter-in-law visited in Va. for Thanksgiving in November. The Iron Bowl took center stage... Son Michael is an Alabama fan, daughter Shirley and d-I-l Susan are Auburn fans. Some cheered, some were very upset.
On December 23rd our family was blessed with a sweet baby boy. What a Christmas it was.
Looking back over this I'd say that 2013 could not be beat. However, never say never so I may be stating this time next year that 2014 was the best. Who knows. I am certainly ready for the challenge.
Happy New Year, Everyone.
