Five Random Things about Christmas

I am so delighted to see Nancy has her Random Five Friday up and running again. Click  HERE   to check it all out.

1. I have been slower than a turtle traveling through mud about getting ready for Christmas this year. Perhaps it was because the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas was so short or maybe it was because I was sick Thanksgiving and continued to be sick for nearly two weeks after. That surely did shorten my Christmas season!!

2. For the past several years I have had a table topper tree in my sunroom. My decorations are stored upstairs and it is getting harder and harder for me to haul stuff up and down those steps so this year I left off the ornaments and just used red bows. And, hey, the bows can remain in place until next year!!

3. I love using gold throughout my house for Christmas. These three gold wire trees have graced one end of my hall table for years.

4. One afternoon I was feeling rather 'non-Christmasy' and not in the holiday mood so my daughter and grandson grabbed me up. We had a steak dinner out and went driving through the Celebration of Lights at the Newport News Park. It's hard to capture blinking lights with my 'automatic' camera but here is one shot I took. That should make anyone feel the spirit!

5. I am busy getting the house ready for company. My daughter Susan, her husband and their three sons will be arriving the day after Christmas. I am so excited.

I wish each and every one of you a very blessed Christmas.

  1. hey there. hope you are well!

would you say your tree is like 5 feet or less tall? perfect size. i get to use my Grandfather Pop-Pop's old tree. we got him when my Grandma Mary had past ... i love it. memories. i have it in my window upstairs looking out on our lawn. it has a cute little glow. can't wait to see it from the road & check it out.

    happy weekend! ( :

  2. I was slow doing things this year, too. I blamed Thanksgiving being so late. Sure hope you have completely recovered -- no fun to be sick during the holidays. Really enjoyed all your decorations and know you will be happy when the family arrives. Merry Merry!

  3. Enjoy your family Latane and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. xo

  4. I was slow with Christmas prep this year but I started earlier so in the end it balanced out. I also eliminated some of the stuff I used to do and let myself enjoy cyber shopping.

  5. I love those gold trees and the red bows are super, do have a wonderful time with your family and hope you are feeling much much better these days.

  6. Five neat random things! I really like the small tree in the sunroom! I have one of those and I found a handy place to store my decorations so I don't have to climb up or go out in the weather. I can do it all by myself! Enjoy your family and have a Merry Christmas!

  7. Well it was a short time between TD and Christmas but it will be that way until the year 2017 so we'd best get use to it.
Love your little tree, it's vey festive and I'm glad you went to see the lights, I would have enjoyed that. Merry Christmas to you & your family too.

  8. Merry Christmas to you and your family....nothing wrong with downsizing that tree...and love the lights!

  9. Well--being sick before Christmas can really put a damper in things.. I'm so sorry… Hope the end of the month--with family coming --will be much much nicer for you.

    Merry Christmas.

  10. i think your house looks so pretty all spruced up for christmas and how sweet of your daughter to pick you up unexpectedly for dinner and christmas lights! glad to hear you are feeling better! merry christmas to you and your family!

  11. Beautiful post! I am glad you have recovered from your Thanksgiving illness and I wish you continued good health! Merry Christmas!

  12. Love your Christmas photos, Latane!
And I can identify with the being sick for two weeks. (Hubby is threatening me with a trip to urgent care if I'm not better by tomorrow...)
    Merry Christmas!

  13. We drove through that park several years ago. It was nicely done. Merry Christmas, and have a lovely visit with your family.

  14. Susan, et al, on their way! EXCITING! Wow...I hadn't heard! How great it will be for you to have them all there. Wish everyone a very merry Christmas from all of us! Wish we could be there, too.

I hope you will visit often and leave a comment when you do. My blogging friends always put a smile on my face.
