Just Some Old Stuff.

Today is Tuesday or dang near was early this morning... but it's late in the day. I was chatting with my daughter, Marie of It's a Colorful World and she encouraged me to visit a new site and join in on a meme. So, I said I thought I would do just that.

The meme is Rubbish By Roan  I suggest that if you like pictures and stories of old things you need to check her out. Just click on the link.

What to pick for my first entry. I spent hours looking through my pictures, trying to decide what would work. Didn't have any new ones handy since I didn't know in advance I was going to be doing this. But, I will be on the lookout for things to shoot, you can bet on that.

I decided to focus on old water pumps. This one is in a friend's yard. Not being used now but decorative, just the same.

And, this one was in my back yard before I moved recently. Decoration only.

They both were once the source of water for families who lived there.

  2. Love this!! And I was so happy to see you pay me a visit. I enjoyed your company.

I have one 'head' of a water pump and they make great yard art.

Also, your post on living to 100...that was a great post.

  3. I'm glad Marie talked you into joining in with the fun. I love these pumps. My grandma had one like the top one and my father-in-law had one like the bottom one. He used to to supply the livestock with water. Nice memories. I'm the kid that stuck her tongue on the pump handle in the cold of winter. It stuck and I tore off a layer of skin. Ugh! Thank you so much for sharing these!

  7. Great pictures of your pumps, or should I say other peoples old pumps. They look great as a garden feature and I imagine are good talking points.

  9. These are perfect! I remember the place one of our family reunions was held, there was a hand pump (quite a novelty for us kids) and we loved working it and receiving cold water for our efforts.

  11. Good for you, Latane! I've been having a time here. Happy to virtually visit you!
We visited a 150-yr old house where the kids rented and they had such pumps in their house up until 10 years ago!.
