A Statue of a Little Girl

This sweet little girl statue really caught my eye when I recently visited the cemetery at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Edenton, North Carolina. I love the mossy look, like she's been there for centuries. And... that's such a sweet, angelic face.

Do you ever find real treasures in cemeteries?

  5. What a lovely memorial. I do love to visit cemeteries. They are such serene and beautiful places. I was just at the Veteran's cemetery to honor my Dad. x Karen

  6. Aww, what a sweet gravestone. I'm sure it commemorates an even sweeter child who left many in tears at her passing. I love walking through cemeteries and looking at the old stones to try to find the oldest. I have come across some pretty interesting ones. Herbert Hoover's grandfather Eli's stone is carved into the stump of a tree, and reminds us that like a tree stump with roots holding life deep in the soil sprouts again, so we, with the roots of our souls planted deep in Christ will live again eternally. There's an element of sadness to every cemetery, but also one of hope. One day those bones are going to rise again.
