Growing Old Gracefully, in the Wintertime

Thanksgiving is just days away. Then November will be gone and December will come. Christmas will be to think about, plan for. Where did this year go? As we age, time just seems to be moving so fast toward ..... what? Toward what we make of it, that's for sure. And, what we make of it determines our mind-set as we edge closer and closer to the fulfillment of our life's journey. That's a lot to think about.

Winter time is not my best time. I dread the long days, the early nightfall, the hours with nothing to do but watch a little television. Or perhaps I'll read a book while propped up on my pillows in bed. There's no one to talk with, no roaring fire to warm my bones. It's a lonely time when things are so quiet and the activity of the world seems so far away.

How must I prepare for the winter? Maybe I need to make a list of ideas, post it on my bulletin board, go to it often to spur me on and get me through until next Spring.

How do you deal with Winter?
Do you have good ideas to share with me?
                                                                                                  I'd love that.

  1. hi latane, i love winter so perhaps i don't deal with it, i enjoy it. i like being home more, no pressure to be out and about. i like the slower pace, cooking comfort meals, knitting, crafting and organizing the home. winter is comfort to me, when it's over, i'm ready. ready to venture out more and do spring things. i don't enjoy summer because of the heat and i have to admit, i dread it every year!!!

    have a great weekend!!!

  5. I've always struggled in the Fall and early winter. I try to get busy with sewing projects and I've been doing some extra cleaning in my house. It helps me to have extra lamps on and candles lit. I hope you have a wonderful week! Hugs, Diane
