My Days

I am from the South but I had never had tomato pudding until I moved to Virginia. Maybe it's a Virginia thing, not southern. Who knows. But, I love it. Always ordered it when I'd eat at the Virginia Diner in Wakefield. Well, I decided I would find me a recipe and see if I could make it. Oh my gosh... how easy. You all, if you enjoy tomatoes, you gotta try this.

1 (28 oz.) can cut up tomatoes ( I did drain a bit of the liquid out, didn't want it too soupy)
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
4-5 slices white bread, cut into cubes (I just used my kitchen shears and that worked fine)
salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Pour tomatoes into mixing bowl, Pour sugar on top, followed by the bread cubes. Douse the mixture with melted butter. Salt and pepper. Do Not Stir (I know what it said, but I did sort of dunk the bread cubes under a little). Pour into a buttered casserole dish. Bake for 30-40 minutes. Enjoy.

I mentioned a week ago about this journal I had ordered. One of the journal writing challenges
that I attempted this week was this:
"You are being held at gunpoint, and your assailant says you have 10 seconds to make him change his mind about shooting you. What do  you say?"

Here's what I said... "My goodness but you are a handsome man. I'd love to spend some time with you. Here come sit beside me..."
And, grab his gun when he sits down!!!

What would you say?

Leslie and I are now the proud owners of a couple puzzles. A Christmas gift from me to him but they ended up in my apartment. I'm not much of a puzzle putter-together. It's going mighty slow. Do you think we will ever get it finished?

                                                                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday I heard some honking and went to investigate. There were about 2 dozen geese on the pond. And, a cormorant.  What fun watching them. This is what I get so much enjoyment out of where I live.
(These bird photos are for My Town Shoot Out)
  1. My met-online friend Kim made that for us last time they came to visit, with the "toast points" settled atop just so, and that rich tomatoey filling below. She calls it "Scalloped Tomatoes," and it was as mainstay of the little cafeteria-type "caffays" where I'm from.
    I'll bet your birdies are WAY glad that the snow is disappearing---we certainly are. Stay well and warm,
  3. My Louis Dean LOVES all things 'tomato' so I am going to make this dish for him this evening! It will go well with our leftover meat loaf from last night!
    That journal sounds so interesting!
    I have a puzzle on my table too. A winter scene of Cardinals. It may well nigh be summer before it is completed!! But then, who cares??? I work on it when I have a few minutes here and there!
  8. Hi! Great Five and My Town pics! Love those geese! I haven't put a puzzle together in years but it looks like a relaxing time (probably good for the brain, too!) Glad the tomato pudding turned out well!
    I mentioned on my Five a couple of weeks ago that I saw where Google will not have any interface with people who don' use Google (like wordpress users) and if we don't encourage them to get a Google acct. we wouldn't be able to connect with them. I suppose that is the same thing you are saying, although the Friend Connect is something WITHIN Google usage, so it seems like it's just another thing they are trying to do to control us. I'm getting really annoyed with their attitude about MAKING us do what they want. This is a free country, and I don't want to lose some of my blogger friends, nor do I want to stop blogging, but I am getting upset by this!
  10. Well there's a first time for everything and this is the first time I've heard of Tomato pudding! So once the frame is done everything on that puzzle should fall into place better :)
  14. Geese do make a lot of noise, but they are fun to watch. Tomato pudding is something I've never heard of, but I'd try it if it were served to me. Have a great weekend.
  16. I have never heard of tomato pudding and I am not sure I would pick it off a menu...not what I am used to, I suppose. I love jigsaw puzzles. I have an App on my iPad and do one before bed every night. There are no pictures to follow which makes it a tad difficult but I like to guess what it might be as it grows.
