So pretty. My mom used to have hurricane globes like this with candles on our mantle piece. Your sketch reminds me of how much I loved the way it looked.
I LOVE this! Your treatment of the glass globe is great, and the candle and holder are as well. The only thing that detracts from it is something I always have trouble with too...the globe is not the same on each side. I have a bird bath like that in one of my paintings. The best thing to do to avoid this, I think is to make a paper cutout of the shape of the one side and then reverse it to use to trace around to get you started on the other, so they will be a mirror image. But, your artwork is superb!
ah yes... this pastel was done many, many years ago. I have since learned a few tricks that would have made this more perfect, like continuing the glass globe across the candle... the way it is now, the top of the candle looks like it is 'outside' the globe. Again... lots of things I have learned since this was done. However, I do love this piece. Marie, you should (after your move) do an art piece of some kind and join in those two artsy memes I do on Sundays. It would be fun.
Your work of art is lovely! Is it a pastel drawing? The Bend area of Oregon is beautiful. There is lots of sunshine even when it's cold. I live near Portland but in a rural area. The country is where I'm most happy. I look forward to hearing from you in the future and I'll be back to see what you have done, too!
A pretty sketch for Autumn.
