Making an Art Journal

I have started a new project for my long, lonely Sunday afternoons. I am learning a lot... didn't know a thing about it to begin with. It's making an art journal.

                                                                                                  Do you journal?

How about dressing them up with fun stuff. I use colored pencils, pens, stamps sometimes. You could do whatever you wish.

I do both, journaling and art journaling.

Here's two pages that cover this past week.

and my working space.

  1. Hi Latane, I do art journaling, but I could never keep such a pretty everyday journal as yours (I'm much too messy). Have a good week. Sarah #14

  3. Now there's a desk full of promise! Look at that brush and paper just waiting to get going, great photo, I love it :-D. I have never been a journaller and am full of admiration for folks who can achieve it.

  4. A saucer under your mug, you qualify for your 'elegant' badge immediately Latane! I love your journal, a touch of real world in among the pics and techniques. I've often been tempted but know myself way too well - it would end up being an empty diary and nothing better.And..when you've earned how to be in the moment, please let me know too!

  5. Wow Lantane! I just started a bullet journal this year and love it but I don't have pretty drawings like you. Those are so lovely. It's so much fun to see them. I am inspired to add more pizzazz to mine. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day!

  8. Hi Latane. I have neved considered an art journal, but maybe I will now. Your workspace is very clean and tidy. I'm not sure I could ever keep my desk so uncluttered. Thanks for stopping by. Have a lovely week Heather #13

  9. Hi Latane, no art journaling simply is not for me, I love looking at other people's work but know that I would give up after a couple of days struggling to do anything I would be happy with. I am amazed that you can work in such a small space, I really need a lot more space than you have.
    Thanks for visiting my desk,

  10. Wish I could keep a daily journal going - mine has huge gaps despite a good start last year.
I tend to do art journalling and I do enjoy it most of the time - not so much this week but I am suffering with a cold and jet lag so got a good excuse.
Full of admiration for yours - and the illustrations.

  11. I have done Art Journaling since 2007 , starting as a way to use all the ephemera I collected when we started going to NASCAR in our RV. Later went into travel journals and finally art journals though I cannot claim to be an artist. I never managed such a beautiful and organized journal as you are making. Hope you post regularly as it is really a pleasure to see such lovely work.

  12. I am an art journal too and I like to use bits and pieces of left over scrapbook papers and ephemera. I am all haphazard and not very organized at all. Hope to see more of your work. Vickie #39

  16. Hello Latane. Sorry I'm so late coming in from WOYWW - call it LIFE getting in the way!! I have just spent ages reading all through your pages - wow! My hubby died 18months ago - and yes, it is indeed a case of discovering new things, a different you, a new season in our life. It's exciting and scary. No, I don't journal at all. I see so many who do - but it simply isn't for me. I can enjoy yours instead:-)
    Take care. God bless.

  17. Latane, thanks for sharing your church. I imagine those pipes produce wonderful music. I have never been a member of a church with a pipe organ. (Been an active Methodist for 68 years). Love the journal too. Great idea.

  19. While art journaling does look like it's a fun way to keep track of your activities, Latane, I would not be able to do a good job with my art. Thanks for sharing insights and pages from your journal.

  20. HI Latane, I do art journal after a fashion, but tend to be very messy with it and flit from book to book. I love yours, with the sweet drawings and handwritten memories and thoughts, very inspiring. Your desk looks very serene, a good place for creative relaxation :o) Annie C #10
