Growing up I never had seafood. Northern part of Alabama, far from the ocean. I had never even seen the ocean until I married my sailor guy. But, I grew to love some types of seafood, scallops in particular. And, crabs which we bought, strowed them out on newspapers on the table and cracked them open to eat.
The other day, daughter Shirley and I were on the Eastern Shore (of Virginia) and stopped in a restaurant to have some lunch. For the first time in my life, I ordered She Crab Soup. It was okay... 😛 not my favorite so I am thankful I don't have to order that again.
It's just the little things in life that make it so enjoyable. Like SWEET TEA!
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteI like to try new things, but sometimes they don't turn out as good as expected!
Once I ordered 'Raspberry Fields Forever Salad' - a green salad with grilled chicken, pecans, dried cranberries, etc. But guess what - no raspberries! When I asked the waitress, she said 'it has a raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing, that's all the raspberries there are in it" Such a disappointment!
Hope you have a wonderful day!
Trying new things is good for us though ... even if they are a one-time only thing, it’s better than living in a narrow world and never having an adventure because we’re scared to try anything new! (That being said, I have to admit that she crab soup does not sound like something I’d be tempted to order ... even though I love seafood ;)
ReplyDeletehaha that made me laugh...i'm not huge fan of it either...i like crab but not crab cakes and we tried some sort of soft shell crab sandwich in baltimore that i didn't like either!
ReplyDeleteI liked the twist in this post. 😉
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous because she-crab soup is one of my favorites...but like all foods some places make it so much better than others. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI commend you for trying something new. Even if you didn't like it, trying it is the important part! Thanks for linking up today. I appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Joan -- all she-crab soups are not created equal. The good ones, however, are divine. Please try again!
ReplyDeleteLife would be pretty mundane if we always did the same things ... so good for you for trying something new! I have had some really delicious she-crab soup, so I agree with Cynthia and Joan - if you get the opportunity, try again.
