Doing Housework

I really should be cleaning house this morning...

But, here I sit in front of the computer. Visiting with my blog friends. Putting off work. That's what I do.

Do you find that the older you get, the less you like to do housework?

                                                                               Yeah, me, too.

It's just me in this apartment so I figure if somebody is coming to visit I might throw the clutter in the closet, take a paper napkin to scoop up the dust off the coffee table, hide those snacks I didn't finish while I was watching tv last night.

So, with no company coming, I don't see any reason to clean house.

You'll have a great day today. And, have fun. The chores will be there tomorrow... and the next day... and the next day.

  1. I agree! There's better things to do. But since we downsized it is less of a chore.

  2. Latane, I have retired from most housework as a result of our move to this retirement community. In fact our housekeeper is here now as I write this. She comes every Tuesday to clean the entire 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment, bring us fresh towels and change the bed linens. My only real housekeeping chore is our clothing laundry. I've also retired from meal planning because we have dinner in the dining room once a day. My grocery shopping is limited to breakfast and lunch items for the most part. I feel really blessed to be be so chore free.

You have the right attitude. The chores can wait, unless you run out of clothes to wear or food to eat.

  3. I’m ridiculously attached to housework......or to keeping house....as I like to call it. It seems to be therapy for me. Making order out of disorder. Putting things to rights again. Redoing what became undone. It makes me feel good. Louis Dean says housework doesn’t bother him at all. He can sit and look at it all day long!
Still, we are all so different and I’m glad you don’t have to do a lot of it! My Louis Dean is a big guy and makes a lot of work for me so it’s a good thing I don’t mind!

  4. When I retired I thought 'now after 30 years I will get back on track' only to discover two things. If it didn't need done daily when I worked; it didn't need done daily now. And if it doesn't get done daily now I will have time tomorrow. I still keep it clean and orderly it's just lost its urgency. Spending time learning and sharing is just as important.

  5. I am just a cleaner - maybe that will change - but it seems to be in my blood! No reason for you to however! ♥

  6. I go through spells where doing housework is the LAST thing I want to do! :-)
