The Little Red Schoolhouse.....

built in 1875 in Nemaha County. In 2000 it moved to Peru State College in Peru due to a road being built at the original location. It is part of a group of one-room schoolhouses in the U. S. that has been preserved.

Corn fields everywhere you look, everywhere you go.

The Land Office.......

This land office was where a lot of homestead filings were done back in the early days. It has been restored and is now the visitors center in Brownville, Nebraska 

Abraham's Seed

This building is just outside Auburn, Nebraska. I just love the name, not sure if it is a working seed company or not but I have taken several pictures of it just because I think it is so interesting.

Old Train Station

This is the old train station in Nebraska City, Nebraska. No longer in use, it is now for sale.

Apples.......

This part of Nebraska grows lots of apples. There are several large orchards with roadside markets. This particular tree is located at Arbor Lodge Farms. Mr. Morton, of Morton salt fame, owned Arbor Lodge and Manor and started Arbor Day.

A House in Fremont, Nebraska

The housing architecture has it's very own 'flavor' in the midwest. They love cuppolas, turrets, various pitched roofs, porches and detailed decorations.

A Storm is Coming

There were a number of severe thunderstorms while I was in Nebraska, usually at night or late afternoon. Sheet lightning, wind, hail. I took this picture out of my son's den window (see the reflection of a lamp in the right lower corner) and the sky was actually an angry orange color with dark, mean clouds. The color just did not pick up in the photo.
