LABORING AWAY ON LABOR DAY?

Well, here I am laboring away on Labor Day... busy as squirrels gathering nuts as I catch up on my blogging.

First, right off the bat, you have to take a look at this new blog that Maggie at KNITTING KAT had found. I fell in love with it right away... You will, too. So, before you do anything else just hop on over to Jani Serendipity There is something for everyone on that blog. Enjoy and be sure to bookmark it... you'll want to go back again and again.

I know, this is a holiday and I sure intend to celebrate in the way I like the best... doing nothing!! I've done a little labor in my day. Didn't work much out of the home. I did a short stint of teaching kindergarten and found that I was pregnant again probably the first week of school. By Christmas I was ready to quit... that little kid eating fritos for snack every day had sent me flying to the restroom every single day with an upset tummy.

I worked a bit longer at being an activities director for a nursing home but I had children at home
who needed me. Oh....children....talk about labor!! Working 9 to 5 isn't in any mom's vocabulary!!

'Where's my shoes?' Did you look by the bed?
'My books?'  Maybe they are where you did your homework last night. Hurry you are gonna be late.
'Mommy, Tommy didn't brush his teeth?'  Your teeth are going to be full of cavities!! Go brush, I said.
'The baby peed on my bed again!' sheets to change for the third time this week.
'A clean towel'... Oh just look in the clothes hamper. Fusteration causes bad choices.

Neverending... But, oh the joys. We Moms labor away... yep, I am so happy I can sit here busy as a squirrel doing my blog.

What are you doing for Labor Day?  Something different or just fun. I'd love to hear about it in the comment section!!

  1. Hi Latane, It truly is a good Labor Day here. We are not doing too much and it seems so good. Hubby is sweeping the garage. I was getting chicken marinating for dinner tonight...wiping up the kitchen a bit and taking care of yesterday's wash. I am going to be in the pool in a few minutes. Might just float today instead of treading water. Then I may read my book. We had a big picnic on Saturday at my daughter's cottage...so much fun! I sincerely hope your day is just what you want it to be. Thanks for asking about my day.

  3. I am STILL tired from the trip! :-) Haven't done a blooming thing since we've been home, and need to do something constructive today, Labor Day or not! :-) Thanks for the link...I'll check it out. Also, I checked out the Birmingham one, and added it to my blog list. I need to start a special project today that I didn't get done BEFORE my brother's birthday, if you know what I mean!!!!! It will be a late gift. I hate that!

  4. Hi Latane,
I slept until 9 AM this morning and then checked my e-mail, blog and Face Book. Around 10 we decided to have brunch instead of breakfast and lunch. This afternoon I had a nice visit with my two sisters. That's about it for today. Just thankful for all our blessings and to have celebrated another birthday yesterday. 39 Again;-)

  5. Morning spent at home on my computer...blogging and catching up on blogs. Afternoon & evening at my daughter's home with granddaughter & boyfriend visiting also. Nice time, good food. Wonder why they call it Labor Day when most of us don't Labor??
