Barns
Some old Barns
On the left top of this mosaic is a photo of a gentleman feeding his goats. This man was my husband's great-uncle. His father had come from Germany through Pennsylvania and the son had settled in Alabama. I love having this picture.
My husband's great-great grandad was Lewis Copeland. The brick house was built before the Civil War with the slaves handmaking the brick. I believe the barn is much older but it was so exciting to find both house and barn still standing in the 1980s.

ReplyDeleteI love to hear the history behind the old barns- so awesome that this one is still standing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. I too love old photos depicting family from long ago. Unfortunately where my dad's family all farmed is long gone and built up with big expensive homes.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I love the one of your husband's great uncle feeding the goats - and the shadow of the photographer (obviously a woman in a dress)!
ReplyDeleteHow behind I am with you! Wow! This is an awesome Barn Charm post! I wonder if the Copeland house is still there. I'm so glad we took those pictures that day. The barn is awesome! I have NEVER seen that picture of Daddy's great-uncle. Fill me in!
