What a difference 5 years make.

My goodness, but time is just flying by. They say that the older you get, the faster time slips by and I sure believe it. Even five years can make a huge difference. Take a moment if you will and think back five years. What were you doing? How was life treating you then? Where were you living? So much has changed.

                                                                2008 - 2013

My sister came to visit me in Virginia.             Now she can not travel so I go to see her in Alabama

Elbert was able to play with his great-grandson        Elbert is gone now, G-grandson lives in Arizona

Our last grandchild, Tighe, was born                          He's such a delightful little guy now, nearly 6.

I got an award for volunteering with Alzheimers Assoc.    I found new interests after Elbert was gone

For my 74th birthday I got Mexican food, flowers and a drink.
For my 79th I got a trip to the beach......

                                                                 and a flat tire!!

Yep, time is zooming by, especially when you are having fun and enjoying life. I'll take what I can get.

  1. You certainly have had many changes in five years but you are still just as beautiful as ever. I first met you when Elbert was still home with you.
My mother died 5 years ago. She was my best friend. John had serious surgery last year and we have moved twice in 5 years.
I hope you are having a nice weekend. It's raining AGAIN here!

  2. Oh, I think you're improving with age! You look great! I've had a lot of change in the last five years too, some good, some bad, but I've been blessed through it all.

  3. You are right about time flying! I was asking my husband today, "What would you want to do this summer if you thought this was the last summer you could do things?" After all, his older brother is having difficulty driving long distances now, and this is on the horizon for us too.
Summer will be over soon. I sometimes procrastinate but I'm keeping a list of things I want to do for fun and getting some of them done.

  4. What a special person you are! Time does fly by...5 years ago my hubby wasn't retired yet....so I was still ironing uniforms and packing lunchs and waiting for him to come home. I love retirement....for both of us.

  5. Hi Latane, What a great attitude you have!!!!! As I have told you before, you are such an inspiration to me. You are so right, we can do nothing to change things...we just keep plodding alone and hope the good Lord is there to see us through. I have had some bad and some good in the last 5 years. But I am here today , enjoying my life, and my husband. I have wonderful children, and the best grandchildren. Now for me....this is terrific! I want to be like you...you have had so many changes but I think you look younger now that 5 years ago. You look happy, relaxed and healthy I know you had so much to deal with ...perhaps you have enjoyed your life more lately. You certainly deserve it.

  8. Hi There, I'm back after a big birthday week. Trying to catch up a little on my blogging.

Interesting post, Latane. Isn't it interesting to compare life through the years??? My life 15 yrs ago was TOTALLY different from my life now... I must say that my life now is MUCH MUCH better!!!!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  9. Five years brings on lots of changes, but you are still a beautiful lady and able to enjoy life. And as Jeep says, "That's a good thing". a picture I posted today on Face Book was made about 6 years ago and I can see many changes in that length of time. Stay active, stay positive and enjoy life!! Love you!

  11. Gosh Latane - you haven't aged at all in the past 5 years - still as lovely as ever! You are an inspiration to those of us around the 70 mark (I'm almost there too). I know your sis must love having you visit - and you are good to drive that distance.
I hope I have the stamina to keep going and travel some more, think it's good to make plans and I'm not ready for the porch rocker quite yet!

Keep on keeping on say I!
Here's to another happy week ahead.
    Hugs - Mary

  12. What a difference a year can make, let alone 5 years.

I am glad you are still able to travel and see your Sister. Face to Face Sister time is priceless.

Keep up the great attitude and active lifestyle, it will keep you young.

    Happy Belated Birthday, Latane!

  13. Enjoyed this trip down your memory lane, Latane. You are so right in that many changes happen over a short span. I would have to take some time to sit and note all the changes in our lives, but with our wedding anniversary coming up in late August, it might be a good time for reflection, thanks.
