Tribute to My Veteran

                                                     Today is Veterans Day.

I drove out yesterday to visit my husband's grave at the Veterans Cemetery where he is buried.

As I drove down the country road toward the cemetery

I was thinking about what a perfect place for him to rest from this world's strife and care.

He was a country boy at heart, love to farm, loved to fish. Here I am driving down this road with farms on either side.

The cotton in this field still hasn't been picked.

The trees are aglow with color.

He would have loved to have fished in that big, beautiful lake near the cemetery.

I took along some red, white and blue flowers to honor his service to his country.

I was sad as I drove away. But, happy, too, for the 60 wonderful years we had together.

  4. I've heard if said that a person is not really dead as long as someone remembers them. Memory is a wonderful thing and you are blessed to have many good times to remember.

  10. A sad post. I thought about Dad that day. But it was a lovely tribute to him, also and all the things he loved. I too think that is the perfect place for him to rest now...it's so beautiful there!
