This and That this morning.

TGIF.... yep, it's Friday, folks, and time to wander on over to Random Five Friday with Nancy Claeys and all the good people posting about their random five thoughts.

So, here goes with mine....

* I guess I am not alone with my problems following that awful cold spell. A pipe under the house broke and I had no water. Son-in-law John to the rescue!

* Had foot surgery Tuesday. It did not hurt while they were digging out a 'wart' from the ball of my foot. I thought it was a callus but what do I know! Two days after the surgery the darn foot started hurting. Guess it will quit one of these days. In the meantime I am hobbling around like One-legged Pete.

* I'm reading a dumb book 'Free Country' which is about two guys who are traveling the entire length of England. They started out just wearing a pair of shorts, walking, with no money and the story is about how people helped along the way. Now, why in the world am I wasting my time reading a story like that?????

* I am curious about what the response is to my new blog look. I like that my words look like I wrote them myself longhand but are they harder to read than a print font? I like the writing font for my posts but hate that I can't change my sidebar font! Give me your feedback. I love changing my blog around often. You never know what you are going to get but this may be over the top. Please let me know what you think!

* My Random Five Memory...
I bet there aren't many people who can say that their children played in their yard just feet from an albatross (goony bird) nest. That was common when we lived on Midway Island back in the 1950s.

  2. You asked for feedback on your script: it's tough to read. Also the color combination at the bottom makes the comment bar hard to see. You asked. :)

Was it a plantar's wart you had taken out? I had that done many years ago and it did hurt afterward like the dickens.

I think I'll have to try this 5 random things.

  3. Latane - where do you link your five randoms to? I didn't see it in your post.

  4. OK...first let me say that the font is a little difficult to read. It is not impossible though. Also, down at your footer (where the comment part is) you have it in a pretty maroon color but you have your print set on a color that is very dark and blends in with the maroon. So, you can't see it unless you place your curser over it. Please, pay attention to your foot. It may not be healing properly. It could be getting infected. It seems to me that it should be feeling better and not worse. It is hard to see the bottom of one's own foot so don't let it go long before you call the dr.

  5. Foot surgery is no fun .. amazing how it can hurt. Your new font is pretty, but a bit difficult to read. Happy Friday!

  6. I like your new look but the font is difficult for me (I wear glasses, glaucoma and am 64, LOL probably my problem not the font). A Goony bird wow, that is a super precious photo and life experience too. Keeping that foot up will help decrease the discomfort/pain along with your analgesic. Glad the pipe problem had a SIL near to fix.

  7. To be honest your post is quiet difficult to read with this handwriting ! Would even be worse on a smaller screen. Hope your next week will be better without pipe and foot problems :)

  8. Unfortunately I am going to join with others in saying that it is difficult to read...I think it is the spacing of the letters...they are too close together. Hope your foot feels better soon, it's not fun to hobble.

  9. Hey, I love the new font! My niece told that the kids in high school print every thing and do not know how to read cursive. Isn't that awful! Hope your foot gets better every day. I had one removed once and it did hurt two or three days later. It will get better in a few days. Love to read about your days on the island.....seems so fascinating!

Have a wonderful weekend. Not much planned here and it seems very good!

    Blessings,

  10. Well it does seem as if a lot of people had issues with water pipes, heaters etc...during the cold spell. Here it's really been pretty decent so I can't complain.

Hope your foot feels better soon. I had a root canal this week so I can sympathize about pain.

The font is a bit hard to read but the overall look of the blog is nice.

  11. "Ouch" to the foot surgery ... hopefully the pain has subsided!
I like the blog look and I actually like the font although it is slightly difficult to read. Which font is it?
    Happy New Year!

  12. The blog looks pretty but yes the handwriting is harder to read. You might use it for your title and signature or something but it is far harder to read than print, even though it is pretty! :)

  13. First of all, before I forget to mention it, I would change the color of the font down below the post...such as the link to comments. It does not show as is...I knew to hold and move my cursor over that area till I found it.

As to the longhand font...I am wondering how people feel about it myself. I am always tempted to use it but think it is a little hard to read. Yet it would not stop me from visiting your blog...which I need to get back in the habit of doing.

I hardly ever change my blog...just maybe the header photo of one of them...but I pretty much leave the one on my pics and pieces blog alone.

Well, now that I have gave you my two cents worth, I am going to read what everyone else had to say about the longhand font.

  14. I do hope your foot feel better soon. That does not sound like fun at all. I love the look of your blog and I can read the script writing very well. Don't ya kinda wonder how that book will end.

    Hugs~

  15. That does sound like an interesting book. I give a book two chapters, if it doesn't engage me I move on. Too many books too read and two little time.

  16. Well, you read about our frozen pump issue -- glad you got yours fixed.

Have a wonderful weekend Latane! xo

  17. I like your blog look, but you must have changed the font already 'cause this one looks like most do.
I hope your foot quits hurting soon. Those pesky plantar warts are painful.
    Have a nice weekend!

  18. Sorry to hear about your water pipe, glad you had help close by. I had a plantar wart a long time ago, don't remember much about it now. I liked the journal look with the handwriting font.
