Walking The Rails and More

Good Rainy Friday to you all.

It is time for Nancy Claey's Random Five Friday  so here goes!

#1. I am so thrilled, that what is falling out of the sky today is rain and not snow!!

#2. I made reservations for my daughter and me to go to Dover Downs on Saint Patrick's Day. That ought to be a fun bus trip.

#3. I love it that my son-in-law has put a lot of my old movies on DVD for me. What memories seeing all those good times bring back.

#4. I just finished reading 'The Wilder Rose' by Susan W. Albert. It's about Laura Ingall Wilders daughter, Rose. And, I watched the movie 'Amelia' (Amelia Earheart). I like stories about real people.

#5. This random five is from the past (as always).  I used to love to 'walk the rails' but that was when I was much younger. I wasn't along on this venture. Here's my husband, Elbert (on left) with son-in-law, John, and grandson Christopher walking the rails. They are going fishing. That Hubby has some pretty good balance going there!!

Stay dry, have fun and I'll see you blogging soon.

  2. I will definitely look into The Wilder Rose..... I have not heard of that, but love Laura ingalls Wilder. Reading her books is like reading about my grandmothers life, as her parents came to Kansas in a covered wagon, and they settled in sod house on a creekbank. I aloso used to wwalk the rails, and enjoyed your photo! visiting from Random 5 day. Have a wonderful day!

  8. Oh yes, the rain is better then the snow. We've had rain here but today the sun was out.
I don't think I've read anything about LIW children so that book would be interesting. I love having movies on DVD to watch or as I do listen to them at night when I go to sleep.
Fun photo of the "rail walking."

  9. Always a pleasure to see Elbert. I have heard of the Wilder Rose. What did you think of it?
How wonderful of your grandson putting all your treasures on videos or Dvd's for you. I would be glad for rain here instead of snow, too. It is still all snow out there but the sun melted some today. Hip Hip Hooray!

  16. Great Ransoms this week. Snow expected here this week but we have had a glimpse of the sun, shining, melting some of the ugly, dirty snow. That rail photo is one to treasure.

  19. Tell me, was Wilder Rose good? I keep hoping the library will get it in.

I walked the rails coming home from school....I never could walk all the way home without falling off it. (But it was probably 3/4s of a mile long walk on the railroad.)
