Special Moments From My New Life

I'm no longer 'living life on Main street' but rather 'living life on Centerbrooke Lane'. I like the ring of that. The blog title will remain the same but life has changed a great deal for me over the past week. I'm still getting settled in, still a lot of stuff to go through, discard, rearrange and reassign but I am getting there.

I spent my first night in my apartment on Monday night. All my big furniture is here except for a sofa which I can't seem to find one I like so it's missing!

Today I headed back to my old house to continue the sorting and hauling. On my way there I swung by and left an Easter lily at Elbert's grave.

I told him about my new 'digs'. I wonder what he'd think of this place, being that country guy that had to have room for his dogs and a garden. But, it suits me just fine.

I bought a few flowers at the grocery store and then added some azaleas and a branch of golddust from my old house for a bouquet. Okay, I know.... I don't have the plastic off most of my chairs yet. But, I will get it done eventually. There are two large windows in the dining area. They overlook the walking trail and wooded area. I love the view from here.

I glanced out the sliding glass doors and saw this duck swimming around on the pond. A photo op... grab the camera... shoot the duck and get back inside. It's cold out there.

I can't wait until tomorrow... We (the residents) are being treated to a taco lunch and then we'll have an Easter egg hunt. I have to say I love it here!! I'm so happy I made the move.

  2. Latane, I'm so happy for you! I feel like you made the right decision to move to the apartment. Time marches on...we can't 'go back' and we can't live in the future, so enjoy each day (I know that's what you do) and be blessed! Keep us posted on happenings in this chapter of your 'new life'! ♥

  3. This sounds like a wonderful way to downsize. Move first and then go back and sort. Will love hearing about your yard sale (if you have one) and the adventure of finding that sofa.

    Hugs,
    Carol

  9. That's just wonderful, Latane! And we can still meet for lunch - Suffolk isn't that far from Smithfield! We'll plan a lunch date once you're all settled and have some free time.
(And I have a feeling your hubby would approve of the move....)

  11. Congrats on the move, sounds like it was the perfect thing to do. I have thought about downsizing, but the idea of packing sends me into a state of panic.
