I am sorta scared. I guess that's okay if I don't get too scared but still it's a worry. So, you are thinking that a bugger is after me or I am about to lose my income or have a disease. Nope, nothing like that.
You see, long before I started blogging I was on myfamily.com. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it's a site sort of like facebook where you post pictures and you chose who you want to be your friends. I mean you have to join up, have a password, all that and there was a yearly fee. So, I had my kin from my Daddy's side of the family on my site and for years we had a great time sharing pictures and stories. It was wonderful.
Just the other day I got an email from myfamily.com (they are part of Ancestry.com) and Ancestry is closing us down. Come Sept 15th the sites will not be available for use. Well, how about that! I could see it coming, I think. I mean, everybody is using Twitter and Facebook and Blogging away like crazy.....
Well, we are okay, aren't we? The blogging kingdom is strong and steady, right? But, I am scared. I want us to be friends FOREVER!
Suppose some day blogging becomes a dying breed. Like MyFamily. I wouldn't ever want Blogging to die. I gotta lot more stuff to share with everyone.
So, I was thinking. Before our favorite Blogger even thinks about getting sick we need to find a cure. A preventative cure! The cure for anything sick is to pump fresh blood into it. That means we gals (and guys) have got to write more posts... a lot more posts. Be diligent, never failing. What you say, bloggers. Let's do it. Let's make it the most important social media there is!!
Me I am posting as much as I can. LOL
ReplyDeleteYou and I have been posting -- what ? we started 2007 or was it 2008?
Hmmm..., I can see your point but more Blogging?! I am put to the pin of my collar just doing the bit I do!
ReplyDeleteBlogging is enjoyable and we learn so much about people with similar interests in other countries and their life styles, their friends and families become ours and we like to know they are doing OK especially when we hear of some kind of disaster in their part of the world.
I don't see blogging ending for a very long time!
ReplyDeleteOh, I sure hope blogging doesn't fall by the wayside like some fear. Personally I think that it will be around for many years to come, but that just might be wishful thinking on my part. I post about as often as I can, but I'll see what I can do when I have the time. Great post, Latane! Take care.
ReplyDeleteThis hit home to me for two reasons. For one, I can't seem to get my bloggy groove back. I'm trying.
ReplyDeleteFor another? I'm nearly convinced that the reason I can't get my bloggy groove back is that so many of my favorite old bloggy friends aren't blogging anymore. They just fizzled off and died away. There is something about the iron sharpening the iron that makes blogging not only easier but more fun.
I wish there were some sort of jumpstart your blog again meme or month or something to revive some of my favorite old blog engines.
Blogging will probably change in some way in order to keep up with other social media (Ie, FB). Better apps would help, perhaps. And FB has a problem: it does too much! We get overwhelmed with so many posts there.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see a software that streamlines commenting on blogs so that I can read, comment on one, then read, comment on another without searching in between. Oh, and Google+ is a hindrance and needs to be fixed!
I agree, Mom! We have to keep things going!
ReplyDeleteI used to blog with my friends on MySpace which went away. Then a couple of my friends went to Blogger, and that was great for me. I've found (and some have found me) through Blogger. I don't blog as much nowadays because I no longer have a business to maintain, but I enjoy keeping up and discovering new sites. I hope the net remains free so we can continue learning and discovering without bounds.
