Weather and Birds

My Word, I almost forgot Willy-Nilly Friday Friday and Critters Saturday.

Did you forget to join it? It may not be too late.

So, 5 things (random, huh?). Maybe I can come up with that. And, I do have some critters to share, too.

1. First of all I just want to say that foggy mornings make me nervous. Too many people out on the road that can't see where they are going. Why we had fog the other morning... I have no idea but this is what I saw as I drew back the blinds on the sliding glass doors to look out at my world. Not much to see...

2. I got a call this morning. Our group of wannabe Wii bowlers are meeting for the first time to 'practice' our talents. That is so funny.... talent.... I have been real life bowling once in my lifetime and never with Wii. Oughta been interesting to say the least.

3. I was tickled the other day to spy all three kinds of birds out on my pond. I call it MY pond but it actually is part of our apartment complex. I bet I get more enjoyment out of it than any of the other residents. Anyway, on or near the bank nearest my apartment were 3 ducks, 2 geese, 1 heron. Cute.
Oh shoot, I cut the other two ducks out of the picture but I swear... there were 3. Honest.

4. I was nearly asleep on my couch the other day (I am known to take afternoon naps) and caught the movement of something outside. It was a hawk settling himself onto a top branch in the pine tree across the parking lot. I sure hope he builds a nest for himself and his mistress so I can watch them a lot. But, who knows. Maybe he just needed a place to catch his breath while he flew around.

5. I just hate the thought of bad weather coming back to the northeast. I've got family living there. I surely did enjoy those warm days we had here in Va. recently. I even sat my potted geraniums out to catch a tad of sunshine.

You all take care, stay warm ... it's just 8 weeks to spring.

  1. I'm hoping the bad weather holds off till we get home from dinner out to celebrate Sarah's 29th. I have to drive to meet Dan and then he'll drive to SilverSpring where we'll meet them. Trying Ethiopian food tonight.

  2. I loved your photos. Neat to see so many birds in one area. I do like foggy mornings BUT most definitely not to drive in. It can be very hazardous doing that and it would make me nervous also. Looking out of your window, however, it looks magical. The wii bowling sounds interesting. I used to enjoy bowling with our neighborhood but pulled a calf muscle and it was never the same. Had to give it up. I enjoyed your Friday Five. Thanks for stopping by mine and have a great weekend :)

  3. I would love to have a pond and view like yours! The birds are great.. We are waiting for the snow to start soon! Have a happy weekend!

  4. #1 On clear days you still have to watch out for foggy drivers.
#2 Wii bowling! Aren't we a modern gal.
#3 If you paid this months rent, then it's your pond.
    #4 I can't say that I've ever seen a hawk nest.
    #5 Let it snow!
Just 8 weeks to spring, do I have your word on that! Tom The Backroads Traveller

  5. I love the fog .... as long as I'm not driving in it.
How lovely that you have a pond and visitors to it .... sweet!
    Wii bowling.....I love it!!!!!
    diane @ thoughts and shots

  6. I hope the hawk stays too. You could get some great shots of it!

  7. Hello Latane, My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter have the Wii and I HAVE BOWLED!!!!!! I just want to tell you that I do not have an athletic bone in my body except swimming, but it was so much fun and easy. You are really going to like it...I just know you are!!!!

  8. Love the bird shots! Those ducks, geese and the heron are great! And you managed to capture the hawk! Love the fog over the pond. Your mention of Wii bowling reminded me of something...when I have played Wii with C, it has always made me think how cool it would be for young people to travel around to senior residences and teach the people there to play, because it's loads of fun and I think that would be a great way for young people and seniors to connect. There are plenty of other games besides bowling, like billiards and fishing and a race where you have to avoid obstacles. I've always enjoyed it. Hope you do.

  9. Good Morning, I am just stopping back to say thank you for linking up and sharing your post.. Have a happy weekend!

  10. Thanks for the reminder that spring is only 8 weeks away! We had the first snow of the winter overnight. It's probably on the way to you by now.

  11. What great views you have from your windows! I bet there are things to enjoy looking at every day.

  12. I like your photos very much.
Thank you for stopping by my blog.
Stay warm and Have a Beautiful Day!
    Peace :)

  13. Good luck with your hawk...I rarely get a chance to take a picture of one. A nest by your apartment would be a treat!

  14. You have made me smile! Really big smiles!!

  15. oh that would be so neat if the hawk stays there...fog is scary to drive in but looks so pretty hanging on the mountain tops...the snow missed us again but my daughter ashlyn is heading back up to harrisonburg this morning and they are getting 3-5 inches last time i checked...only an hour and a half from us. she hates the snow and i want snow and here she's getting some and we aren't lol...sure hope the roads are safe though...scares me to have my kids out driving in it! thank you for linking and have a wonderful day! i enjoyed your randoms very much!

  16. I love the picture of the geese and the picture of the hawk!! :)

  17. You've bagged some great photos. Interesting post too.

    Have a great week

  18. Nice shot of the three types of birds together! I think foggy mornings are beautiful, but fog is a nightmare to try to drive in!

  19. Eight weeks? Oh... I guess I can crawl through them somehow!

  20. I don't like to drive in foggy weather, either, but that is a nice foggy image overlooking your pond. And so many nice birds that congregate there!

Thanks for stopping by to comment on my Saturday's Critter. :)
