A Doozie of a Day

Yesterday was a doozie. Do you use that word?
Doozie, as in unbelievable, annoying, over the top.

I don't know what was going on but I felt out of sorts all day. Nothing really wrong but just 'over the top' in a very annoying way. I was in such a foul mood. I sure hope today is gonna be better.

Tanya over at Willy Nilly Friday is on my mind this morning. Would you go over and check her out? People have a lot of fun on her meme. and there is Amy's Five on Friday.

Here's my wee contribution.

#1. I am getting mighty tired (and very impatient) trying to get a decent picture of that dang hummingbird who frequents my feeder!! I guess I am just getting to be an impatient old woman! I did get this one. The bird drinking out of one side, a wasp out of the other.  Look closely... you'll see it.

#2. How delightful to stop for flowers with grandson Chris and then have him come by my apartment to place them lovingly into their pots. He takes after his Grandpa when it comes to growing things.

#3. If I hear one more thing about Bruce Jenner I am going to throw up (literally). Just because he's got boobs now (fake of course) and paints his face does not make him a woman!! Sick, sick, sick. Yes, I am sick of it all.

#4. I have started reading 'The Wright Brothers' by David McCullough. It's a book club thing. My daughter suggested that after the club members finished with the book, we ought to drive down to Kitty Hawk and have lunch at the Black Pelican. That restaurant was once a life saving station and is where the brothers sent out their telegram to the world that "YES, we have flown". (not a direct quote but my take on it.)

#5. I think I will go shopping today. Perhaps that will improve my mood. Do you reckon?

  2. Love the photo, Mom. You had a bee imbibing as well. :-) You might want to change the nectar a little more often, though...you have some mold growing and it will hurt the hummingbirds. Clean it out real good with vinegar & water, wipe dry & refill. Love that you finally got the shot! :-)

Sorry you were in a funk yesterday! Calling you....

  9. Haven't used that word in quite some time. My foul mood usually occurs when I have to deal with the crazy drivers in this country. Then, quite a few foul words will spill out of my mouth. I don't watch or read the news; stopped watching tv a couple of years ago. My 16 year old son showed me a picture of Bruce Jenner the other day. Hmmm, I'd say that was a little much. Not the Bruce Jenner I knew of in the 70's. Take care, Tammy

  10. Hi Latane, thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment :) I like the shot of your hummingbird. I rarely see them in my yard, and when I do I never have the camera handy. I could care less what Bruce Jenner does in his life ... but like you I don't want to read about it so I skim past that "news". I hope a little shopping helps settle you. Gardening does it for me! Enjoy your weekend,
    Wendy

  15. At least you got this shot...I don't have a feeder because of a certain feline that lives with me...though it is tempting to try to find a place I thought might be safe for them. I am sort of like Tom--who cares about celebrities anyway. Most don't live in the real world that we know and have to deal with. I hope shopping did the trick for you...now if I were in your mood, which I do have way too often, going fishing can improve my mindset quicker than anything.

  16. Oh no! It might be catching! Bad moods that is. I agree that just because a man thinks he is a woman does not mean that he is. I am more inclined to think that he is mentally ill and needs a few months at Shady Acres or a come to Jesus meeting. Hope the retail therapy worked like a charm!

  21. Hi Latane, I am visiting from Willy-Nilly Friday 5 as well as Amy's Five on Friday memes. Oh how I feel your pain. I was in a stinker of a mood over the past few days! Didn't feel like doing anything, well if I had had some discretionary cash it would definitely have been a shopping couple of days! I did manage to find several books on Amazon both for my kindle and a couple that were cheaper buying them used than the Kindle edition so I have some good summer reading material on the way at least! I think that hummingbird photo along with the yellow jacket drinking from the feeder is an awesome shot. I have to confess to the fact that I have yet to get a really descent photo of the little hummers who frequent my home in the spring and summer months so don't feel too bad. Yes, I use the word doozie, hmmm, perhaps we are dating ourselves? LOL! After turning sixty this past November, Eeek how in the #!?@#! did that happen, I find myself feeling more impatient than I used to, or shall we really call a spade a spade and say outright cranky!!! LOL!
Hang in there girlfriend...there is life on the other side of cranky! :D
    Hugs for now,
    Beth P

  22. Hi Latane, I so agree with you about Bruce Jenner! I live in Southern California and it was the top news story down here! I think you did a great job of capturing that beautiful hummingbird. Aren't they amazing creatures? What better way to enjoy yourself than to go shopping. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. My best to you.

  25. Doozie is a great word and one of my favorite lines from Groundhog Day when the actor playing the insurance guy, Ned Ryerson, repeats it over and over again..."it's a Doozie!" That hummingbird shot was clear and your patience paid off, Latane. And, I COMPLETELY agree with yiur comments about Bruce Jenner, the she-wannabe, who despite the added parts will never be a she in my opinion. He can do anything he wants, but flaunting it everywhere is never going to convince me ito change my opinion and apoarentky yours and others too.

  26. I think we all have those "doozie" kind of days from time to time.
    1. Well you at least got that shot and it's neat that you got a wasp in it too.
    2. That is so sweet.
    3. I agree 100% Sick of hearing about it.
    4. I think having lunch there would be fun. Hope the book is good.
    5. Did the shopping help?
