A Trip to Edenton

Edenton, North Carolina is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to visit. And, it's just an hour and 15 minutes from my apartment. No traffic, straight shot... loving it.

To escape, Leslie and I drove down there for lunch and a little 'look-see' one day last week. Fall was in the air, the leaves should be pretty and we needed a new restaurant to try out.

I'd seen one advertised so we set out  in search of it .... Nothing Fancy Cafe.
True to it's name it was 'Nothing Fancy' but the food was really good and the atmosphere friendly. I brought home some cherry creme cake and enjoyed it the next day.

We went to the visitor's center to see when the trolley tour would run but wouldn't you know it... they don't run on Mondays. Maybe next time. Or perhaps take the boat tour.

We did go upstairs and prowled around a bit looking at some artifacts.

An old ships compass

This is a beautiful sailboat.

This picture is pretty self-explanatory.

A 13 colony flag hanging on the staircase of the Penelope Barker House.

And, here's Leslie.

After our lunch and the visitors center we next explored St. Paul's Episcopal Church. I'll tell about that next time. It was fascinating.
