Five Around My Town

For My Town Shootout.. a trip over the one and one half blocks leading out of my apartment complex to the main street.

1. I moved to my apartment complex it will be 2 years in April. At that time there were a lot of open fields around us. But, guess what... time moves on, buildings go up and I feel like I am 'living in the city'.

2. First they built a Hampton Inn out near the 58-10 interchange. At night I can see the hotel lights from my balcony.

3. Then they cleared that huge field next to the apartments and lo and behold, up went a DMV.... well, at least if I need my license renewed, it will be a half block away. I can walk there!

(That's the apartment complex in the trees to the left)

4. Self-storage buildings are on two sides of the DMV. But, I have already downsized so I personally have no need for self-storage. Perhaps someone will.

5. And, come spring.... a Dollar Tree will open just down the street from me. Oh, I can see myself taking leisurely strolls down there just to see what's on the shelves. I can take my little shopping cart with me. Maybe I will fill it, maybe I won't.

Yep, progress abounds in my neighborhood. As I drive out of my apartment complex I pass the DMV and storage on the left. On the right is the Dollar Tree and beside it is the hotel. Wow. I wonder what they will think of next.

Also for Friday I would like to link up with Willy Nilly Five FridayFriday Favorites and Five On Friday.

                                                                Have a great weekend!

  1. The landscape does change and sometimes very quickly.

  2. That's a lot of change in two years' time! I probably couldn't handle it. We see change much more slowly in our corner. They better not cut down your trees!

  3. That is a lot of change! Dollar Trees can be fun!

  4. I hate the way things are "encroaching" upon where you live. On the other hand it's nice to be able to walk to the Dollar Store. I could do without the DMV!!!!

  6. Well, now, progress keeps marching on, dagnabit...but hopefully the wildlife you get to enjoy will remain. My money is on a few restaurants being built next. Where there's a Hampton Inn, food will soon follow. It'll be interesting to see if its a Waffle House or a Cracker Barrel.

  8. There seems to be no end to new developments and the eating up of green fields. I wonder is it all necessary?
Happy weekend and enjoy the views!

  13. A lovely ride through your neighborhood. When we lived near here and used to take drives, this was all country too. In 40 years we have a city, but then as you have shown us, it doesn't take 40 years to change so quickly does it? Thanks for your comment on my blog post. I enjoyed your memories of living in Oahu.

  14. We live 8 miles from town and I fervently hope it never moves out to us.

  15. I imagine it will take many decades for my neck of the woods to change like that but 'we humans' tend to always be expanding somewhere. At least a couple of those places are handy to you and not all industrial monstrosities blocking your view completely. Thanks for linking up to Fun Friday Favourites...I enjoyed seeing your part of the world.

  16. Once I was in the Dollar Tree and a lady was saying to a small child, "Pick out something that you like and Grandma will buy it! Anything you want!"
