A Trip and Taxes

1. I've been getting ready for Easter. I no longer have room to store a lot of decorations so I make do with what I have. Here's what I did for my front door.

and my dining room table

2. I was so sorry to hear that Nancy Reagan died. She was one classy lady and she did what she had to do, regardless, for her Ronnie. You just don't see devotion like that anytime, anywhere.

3. We made another little trip down to Edenton on Thursday. It was 80 degrees but the wind was blowing. I'd hoped to take the harbor tour but it's too early in the season. The trolley tour was up and running and we were the only ones on the trolley. You might say it was a 'private tour'. What history in that place. I can't wait to share some of it with you. For now here is one picture...

This is the Roanoke River Lighthouse. It was built in 1886 and served as a guide for ships navigating the Albemarle sound into the Roanoke River. In 1941, with the lighthouse no longer in use, it was moved by barge to a private location but fell into neglect. However, these people of this town know the value of maintaining history so they moved it to it's present location in the harbor of Edenton where it is visited by tourists.

4. I got a picture of the osprey. They returned last week and are now quite at home on their nest high atop the cell tower.

5. Another advantage of living in a 55+ community apartment building. The tax people came this week, picked up our tax stuff and will bring everything back to our apartments today. You can't beat that. Now, if they would just pay what we owe we would be in business!!

  15. Hello Latane. I'm here from Amy's Five on Friday link-up. The basket of flowers on your door is a wonderful way to welcome visitors. Love the Easter arrangement. You sure have a beautiful lighthouse in your area and I'm glad that it was restored. I saw the news about Nancy Reagan on tv with a clip of the way she supported her husband when he was ill and people didn't realise It was very touching. Those birds have found a lovely high place to build their nest. Glad the paperwork for the tax gets taken care of. That is something that gives peace of mind. Wishing you a good weekend.
