Friday, my favorite day of the week.
It's time to join in some memes today, namely Willy Nilly Friday - Five on Friday - Fun Friday Favorites - Simple and Sweet Friday - Today's Flowers
So, let's go have some fun. Check them all out, or just one. You'll be glad you did.
1. Yesterday was a fun trip for me. I love Anderson's Garden Shop in Newport News, Va. I needed flowers for my balcony. Here's what I bought and planted into my large pot at home. BTW, the small lantana in the back will grow larger so there will be some 'height' to my planting.
2. My daughter, Marie, just posted a picture of her grandson on her blog. He's playing the trombone with his school band. How ironic that his great-grandmother (ME) also played the trombone in her high school band. I love it.
3. I have a little corner just outside my front window that needed something. So, yesterday I bought flowers to go in a pot I already had ... and a little stand to set it on. I think it needs a little figurine standing beside it. To sort of balance it all out. What do you think?
4. I do love red geraniums, don't you? These were awfully pretty but I didn't buy them. My balcony is small so I have to rein in my flower buying urges.
5. I am really needing a big glass of iced tea right now. Wish this thing was a fixture in my kitchen!
Toodle-ooo

Your heart must have swelled when you saw the photo of your great grandson. That's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'll be dressing up our back porch with flowers and plants this weekend. There's never enough room for everything I'd like to have. Enjoy your weekend!
A lovely five. What a wonderful photo of you with your trombone alongside the one of your great-grandson.
ReplyDeleteyou look fabulous in uniform... Toodle-ooo!
ReplyDeleteTwo peas in a pod--great photo of you two.
ReplyDeleteLike the flowers!
Just LOVE your flowers! And yes, you could put an arrangement of three things at the base of that planter, each a different size, but mostly vertical (two vertical and the shortest one more squatty), to take up that blank space by the planter's legs. It would look awesome. I have a red geranium too...it overwintered with me covering the plants out front when we had a freeze. My flowers out front are doing great...will be gifting some of them to my church friends when we leave. Had THREE hibiscus blooms this morning and will share thart next week!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that you posted the pictures of you and Cane playing the trombone side by side! It was just so awesome that he chose that instrument to play this year. I don't think he will pursue it further in high school, but I wish he would! I'm glad at least we have pictures of him playing! It was a nice connection to you!
How wonderful for your Great Grandson to play trombone and follow in your footsteps. Beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the trombone pictures. :) I really like geraniums but they don't like the heat and dust here so never last very long. Lantana is also very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are very pretty and it will be lovely to sit outside during the summer and look at them. It is so lovely that your great grandson is following your musical footsteps! Thank you for taking part in Five On Friday, I hope you have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteSmiling at the side by side photos of you and your great grandson with your trombones. How neat that he is following in your footsteps. Do you still play?
ReplyDeleteYour flowers look so pretty. Lovely combination of colors.
Red geraniums are the only sort in my book. they make me think of beautiful old houses in France and Italy and I love them too x
ReplyDeleteI do love red geraniums and a glass of sweet tea is always good. You know they say that musical ability runs in families.
ReplyDeleteYour pots of flowers are gorgeous! I have hot pink geraniums left over from last year and they are blooming nicely. Love that trombone picture of you! I played clarinet and both daughters played flute and our son did not do Band. love your new header pictures too.......very nice new look!!
ReplyDeleteI love the trombone family history, how fab! Have a lovely weekend :)
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers! Soon the researchers will tell us what is the gene for playing a trombone!
ReplyDeleteLatane, I love this post about you and your grandson playing the trombone....wow! how remarkable. And the pictures are awesome. =) glad I saw your post! I have been remiss about posting....health not up to par and just lazy combined with Mac upgrade that I wish I hadn't done. Do I ever!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures of the two family trombonists! That's really great!
ReplyDeleteYou did an excellent job of planting that pot with all the pretty colors of flowers and trailing ones. Looks professional.
We have been so disappointed in the tea sold in grocery stores here; the only ones we can find are only supposed to have hot water poured over the bags, and the tea is so cloudy. I may have to go back to tea leaves in a ball like I used to when we were first married, 5 decades ago.
Things do come around don't they.....did you keep playing?
ReplyDeleteRed geraniums are such happy flowers, they look lovely.
Happy weekend!
Ruby
Love that black and white of you with the trombone! Fabulous. How sweet that your talent is carrying on. A little something with that flower stand would be nice. Hope your weekend is going well!
ReplyDeleteIt must be nice to see your great grandson playing the same instrument you played! Those red flowers look gorgeous in that spot. Hope there is somewhere nearby where you can sit and enjoy them
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend - enjoy the iced tea
Beautiful pictures! I love Geraniums, too. They are so happy looking.
ReplyDeleteYour new header with those beautiful butterflies is fantastic - Happy Sunday!

ReplyDeleteHi Latane, these are great photos! Loved the family one, a treasure, and isn't it great to be able to get those cold drinks out ready for the warmer weather? Sorry for being so late in commenting. I have had both a family member and a friend quite ill, and have not had much time for visiting blogs but have been trying to catch up now I have free time. Thank you for sharing with Today's Flowers. I very much appreciate you doing so :) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi, Latane..so good to have you come by...and yes, I do, indeed, have several more items that I will add to my tiny backyard space... as soon as that big brown, UPS truck gets here....:)
ReplyDeleteLove all the pretty flowers....
Hello, wonderful shots of you and your grandson. The flowers are all lovely. I love ice tea made fresh. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day and weekend ahead!
