Goodbye Osprey

I guess your 4th was a busy one! Not so much here at the Commons but the week before was filled with fun what with my daughter and grandson being here from New York and another daughter's birthday.

On the 4th Leslie and I were going to watch our local fireworks but those were cancelled due to the weather. So, we watched The Capitol Fourth on PBS and the fireworks were lousy.

I did sit on my balcony and watch my osprey on the cell tower. The youngster is ready to leave the nest and I got some pictures which I will share.

Here is the picture of Mom and Dad and their grown baby!

This morning I walked out on the balcony just in time to see the youngster flying in circles around the cell tower, the circles getting bigger and farther away, behind the trees and then he was gone. Good bye, Smooth flying.

It's time for the following memes:

  2. Great photos of the Ospreys!
The young Osprey we watch at Pickwick is still in the nest Monday, and I got a few photos of him standing on the edge exercising his wings. He will be off pretty soon!
Hope you are having a great week!

  3. I think it is so interesting how the birds know how to take and train their little ones.

  5. And like that he was off...you were there to see it at just the right time. I forgot all about watching A Capital Fourth...guess that I didn't miss much if the fireworks were lousy. = D

  6. I love to watch the ospreys too. They are amazing birds. I only got interested in birds of prey around 2008 or 2009 or so...sure do enjoy them now. I love to watch the ospreys dive full throttle full speed ahead into the ocean to catch their supper....fun to watch. Enjoy owls and hawks too. We have bald eagles here---but have not spotted any yet.
