Growing Old Healthy (and gracefully, too)

I have, in the past, posted about Growing Old Gracefully and then I sort of stopped. Not that I have given up the idea of getting the most out of what life I will have allotted me. But, I recently realized that growing old gracefully isn't gonna mean a whole hill of beans if we aren't healthy.

Now, I admit I have had health issues over the years (cancer, knee replacements, high cholesterol and now some blood pressure issues but hey, I am  coming up on my 83rd birthday (Jan. 6th) so I am not doing too badly.

But, I decided that I need to grow old as healthy as I could be. So, I have adopted a healthy eating plan which includes consuming lots of green leafy vegetables,  colorful veggies, fruit and lots of beans of all kinds. Oh, and nuts, too. I'm either going to turn into a rabbit or a squirrel, not sure which. But, I do feel better, am more energetic and have lost a bit of weight.

I don't miss my meat, sugar, sweet tea, white bread or dessert. The world may come to an end!! Me, without sweet tea?

Just thought I'd give you a little update on where I am in my growing old stage! I am hoping to have my daughter Marie from It's a Colorful World blog join me in our quest to feel better.

How about you? What's your favorite way to be healthier? I'd love to hear about it.

  1. You look marvelous! Whatever you are doing is working. I am only trying not to snack at all between meals and no snacking in the evening...it's tough. Glad that you are not missing any of your former favorites.

  2. I rely on yoga and Tai Chi to help keep me moving. Arthritis is worsening as I age and my hands have lots quite a bit of strength. I think about growing old gracefully a lot. We only get one crack at it so I'm trying to do it right! At 83 - you are my role model and I want to follow in your footsteps!! You are rocking it!

  5. Since moving I've been exercising much more regularly which is good for the bones and overall health. I try to stay away from desserts, they are so tempting at our dinners here.

    1. Marie, You have mentioned twice that you had not gotten comments from me and I had commented both times. Something weird is going on.
