Quilt Barns

Yesterday was so pleasant! We needed a nice day after so much heat lately. I got out and enjoyed it some and then came home and spent the afternoon reading on my balcony.

Last Fall, on a trip to Alabama, I managed to get a couple of shots of these quilt barns. These were in Tennessee. I never seem to see them in time or else they are hidden behind trees or bushes. Just thought I'd join Tom over at Barn Collective this morning and share them with you.

  1. I've visited Alabama a millionteen times, and lived there for a couple of years, but have never seen nor heard of these fabulous bits of history. What a lovely sight that must be, peeking out through the vast greenery.

I had to look back up at your post, for I'd just been immersed in a weekend trip over at Kathy's blog, out through Lancaster County, PA, and I'd swear that's where you'd see something like that. I'll keep a lookout next time we're down to see the GRANDS in AL.

    1. Rachel, those weren't in Alabama... I said 'on my way to Alabama'. Found these in Tenn. Sorry if that was misleading.

  2. I love to see quilt barns!
When I see something interesting, I turn around and go back to get a photo unless I am in a terrible hurry to get somewhere. My husband may grumble a bit, but he will usually turn the car around for me, too!

  3. I love both, but boy the first one is one of the prettiest quilt blocks I have seen.

  6. I have never spotted a quilt barn; maybe we don't have any in Canada.
    Nice old barns though.

  7. They're wonderful! Usually when I see one, there is no place to pull off the road.
