Smithfield Farmers Market

It was a beautiful Saturday and time for a ride in the country. The leaves are about half mature painting the woods in lovely, cooling shades of green. Flowers are blooming on the roadsides and in people's yards. Our destination: Smithfield, one of my very favorite places. It's Farmer's Market Day.

Didn't expect any local produce yet but they always have a lot of other goodies to peruse and some-times buy. I wasn't disappointed.

The parking lot behind the bank was filled with tents!

There were baked goods - yummy

Plants for sale, even beautiful orchids (alas, I was enjoying their beauty so much I forgot to snap a picture)

If you are hungry there is the wonderful barbeque sandwiches to munch on.....

as you listen to the live music!!

Tell me if you can.... what could be better on a lazy Saturday morning!!

I am linked to Our World Tuesday and Outdoors Wednesday
I hope you will visit that site and see the many interesting places featured on blogs from around the world.

  1. I love to go to the local farmer's market on Saturday mornings! I love fruit and veggies and there is one vendor who makes sour dough bread that hubby enjoys. Thanks so much for sharing the pictures of your visit. Have a nice Monday.

  12. I love that kind of Sat. morning - especially now Spring is here and people are out in their shorts enjoying the warm weather here in the southeast - lucky us!

Off to work in the garden - so much to do after being away again!

Hope life is good - Mary

  17. You have the most special places to go! I'm envious....=). How wonderful. Let's see. We do have a small (very small) farmer's market starting up near us. I'll let you know if we visit anywhere special...lol. I appreciate your friendship also...and....you have such a gift for writing! I like that 'lovely, cooling shades of green' I felt transported to them. Well....relaxed anyway. =)
