I grew up on a farm.. wasn't much farming going on but the old barbed wire fence was still in place.
After our years in the Navy Elbert and I moved to... yep, you guessed it... a farm. He bought cows and up went a barbed wire fence. To a lot of people, fences are only to keep critters inside and not out. Not very attractive, but very effective.
Now for something much more attractive.
A white picket fence with a charming curved arbor gate in Rye, New York
I grew up in the country and am used to barbed wire fences, too. I do love a home with a white fence and this arbor is beautiful.

Beautiful fence and arbor. Cows always make a good shot in my eyes!

ReplyDeleteIt looks as though those two black cows were on their way over to have a word with you through the barbed wire fence! I love the white fence and arbour, the house looks rather nice too.
ReplyDeleteNice shots...one functional fence and one decorative!
ReplyDeleteI love both fences, but my favorite is the white picket with the beautiful arbor.
ReplyDeleteI think picket fences are so neat!I have my share of scars from going through too many of that barbed wire kind;-)

I see you live in Virginia. Do you live near Smithfield? We lived in Chesapeake thirty years until we retired. :)
I have snagged my clothes on enough barbed wire fences!
ReplyDeleteI love that bottom fence...bet to see the whole thing is a beautiful site.
There are all sorts of fences, for sure. Sometimes what's on the other side is as interesting as the fence!
ReplyDeleteGreat fence post, Mom! When I think of Alabama cows in a pasture, I realize you and me both have moved on to very different pastures, haven't we!? Love the white picket gate. It's a lot like one I posted a few weeks back! Oh, I forgot to tell you, I am SOOO happy you got your car air conditioner fixed!!!!
