I remember my and Elbert's first CAR. It was a '49 (that's 1949 hehe) Lincoln COUPE, dark green. Big as a train CABOOSE!!
But, we thought we were the CAT'S meow riding around San Diego in such a vehicle.
It took us up to the 'Frisco area when Elbert got stationed there.
And, it drove us back down to San Diego and on to Alabama. What a ride.
While in an antique/flea market shop one day I found a magazine ad of our CAR. Naturally, I had to purchase it.
Fancy Smancy, eh? Just had to share this CAR with the folks over at ABC WEDNESDAY. Go to that site and see a lot of things that start with the letter 'C'.
Definitely the cat's meow, you hep CATS!

That was the year my hubby was born. His dad was in the Navy...he was born in Guam. It was a good year for great models! I know because my hubby is a great 1949 model!
ReplyDeleteNeat post!
Old black and white photos and going down memory lane... what a delightful post!
ReplyDeleteLove the old photos. My mom and dad had a '49 Ford. She drove that car until the mid 60's!
ReplyDelete(We visited San Diego for the first time last year. Neat place!)

ReplyDeleteThe Lincoln Coupe is a great car! This car certainly takes me back to the old days. Its vintage design is really one of a kind. Whenever I see a vintage car, I can’t help but be amazed. You would hardly see a car from the 40’s that is still running and rocking on the road! Maintaining such awesome car is a pride!
ReplyDeleteAw! I love your black and white photos! So that's the 50's? Your car is spot on! Vintage cars make me feel like I'm living in the past. Cars in the past are very unique, stylish, and elegant. How I wish they would still make cars like this.
ReplyDeleteI had missed this post, Mom! Love it. I imagine that's the car I took my first step on the front seat. They just don't make them like they used to!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get a comment from you on my Colors post, so I think you may have to try again.
I am not too into cars, but my husband is. He loves the old classic cars, but he also loves the sports cars. The faster is always better according to him. He really likes my father's El Camino. I do not remember the year, though, except that it was sometime in the 80's. It is both a classic and fast.
