Peaceful Flower Time

It's gonna be dang hot today. So, I snatched a cool moment to sit in the swing on the patio and wolf down a scrambled egg sandwich and just meditate before I start my chores. I think that's a great way to start the day, don't you?

I could have been in the house, cleaning the kitchen (I am so bad to leave it a little messy when I go to bed at night) but if I had been I would have missed the beautiful butterfly busily gathering pollen/nectar from some of the first flowers on my abelia hedge.

I would not have seen the tall yellow wildflower dancing in the wind. Anyone know the name of this one?

I would have missed the pretty, bright periwinkles in my flower bed

or the bright little yellow coreopsis  all aglow in the sunlight.

The bee balm is waiting for the bees. One lone bee was darting from blossom to blossom, too quick for me to take it's picture.

My stargazer lilies look a little 'washed out' this year. Maybe I need to give them a good talking to... and some fertilizer.

My mind is on good things, my soul at peace.... it was time to start my work. Talk to you all again when I get all this STUFF done!!

  2. You have so any pretty blooms and I love that butterfly. I don't recognize that one yellow flower either. I always crack open my office windows first thing every a.m. so I (and the cats) can enjoy the cooler air and the birdsong.
Wishing you a nice afternoon. It's really hot here today, too.

  3. Yes, I agree, it's a nice way to start your day. Since we windowed in the porch and made it a sunroom, that's the first place I go in the morning. I take my coffee and enjoy my devotional time just being still and knowing that God is still in control.
Those are some lovely pictures of your flowers! I don't know what the yellow one is, either. Gorgeous butterfly! I haven't seen many yet. Enjoy your summer! I expect we will have 3 months of this hot, hot weather.

  8. Hi Latane, Hope you made it through the hot day yesterday. It's a little cooler here today --and we may get rain/storms this afternoon.

I call your little purple flowers Vinca.. Our Periwinkle is called Vinca Minor officially--and it's different from the Vinca you showed. The nice thing about your Vinca is that they LOVE sunshine and summer weather... Pretty little flowers --and I love the polished looking leaves...

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  9. I think the yellow one is some kind of primrose. You can try using google images to identify it further. I totally love the butterfly. Your warm climate is certainly a happy thing for your flowers! And I agree, a few minutes to meditate and view the beauty around you is the perfect way to start the day. With coffee, of course!
