My Announcement.

TA DA....
A couple posts back I promised that a big announcement would be coming up soon. I told my girlfriends at lunch yesterday and they guessed I was getting married. NOPE. Then one asked if I was pregnant.. a double NOPE to that. hehe.

I am moving from my big old 2 story house on Main Street to an apartment in a 55+ community about 25 miles from here. Time to down size! Make life more simple and enjoyable. And, for gosh sakes take all the responsibility of home-ownership off my shoulders. I am super excited and ready to move. Here's the apartment complex.

The apartments are joined into a rectangular design with a large courtyard in the center.

Another view of the courtyard and apartments. I will be in an end unit on the 3rd floor.

The view from my living room window - the wooded walking trail.(and parking lot)

This is the living room (not my furniture).

There's an exercise room, an activity room with lots of activities, a new bus to take us interesting places, lots of new people to meet. I am super excited. Oh, I said that already, didn't I? Sorry.

So, here's the question!! My blog is 'Living Life on Main Street'.  I am moving off Main street so do I keep the name? Would it confuse people if I changed it? And, what would the new name be.... "Living Life on Third Floor"? hehe. I'll probably just leave the name alone since the new place will be the 'Main Street' in my life anyway.

  1. Congratulations on the big decision. And a very wise one that many folks are afraid to make - they have a hard time letting go of "their stuff". One day we will be doing that when we can no longer take care of this place. If my husband goes before me that decision to move will be made quickly because there's much about this house that he handles and I cannot i.e., snowplowing the driveway.

Keep the blog title. It suits you.

  2. Definitely don't change your blog name Latane - it is 'you' no matter where you move to!
The apt. complex looks delightful and having a view of the pond will be really pleasant when everything is green and lush.
You ARE brave to give up your house, but I know exactly where you're coming from, and it is something many of us will perhaps face in the coming years. Every now and then we look at town homes, condos and even apts., but are not ready to do it quite yet.
Hubby mowed the lawn yesterday and his back is now killing him………..he's stubborn and won't allow me to get someone else to do it. I can't because of my polymyalgia - shoulders, arms and hands can't deal with the heavy mower. Two old crocks………………maybe we SHOULD move in too, we've always loved Virginia, in fact Bob did live and work there in the early '60's, I was in D.C., just before we married!

Good luck with the move dear - enjoy each moment with new friends and fun times once settled in. Wish I was closer and could come help you pack up etc.

    Hugs - Mary

  3. Oh what a beautiful complex! The views from your apartment are just gorgeous! How lucky are you!!!? My favorite is the walking trail through the wooded area. Oh my.
After my father died a couple of years ago, I've been trying to convince my mom to move into a complex, but she's struggling with leaving her home. I suspect that before long, the stress of keeping up her property will convince her to make the move too. Oh, and I wouldn't advise you to change a thing on your blog. We love it the way it is. :) I

  4. Keep the blog title, it still fits, just differently. It's funny how we all have basically the same decisions to make in life yet how differently we approach and view them. It's uplifting to see that you are excited and happy with this new chapter in your life. I am happy for you.

  8. I agree, keep the name! I checked your new place on their website and it sure looks nice! One of the best things is not having any upkeep, insurance, etc. Sure glad you're not pregnant!! ;)

  12. I would keep the name. It will be your Main street after all. I was talking to my husband today about possible downsizing. The knees are not getting anybetter.
The grounds look very nice and an end unit on the 3rd floor looks perfect

  13. Wow, that is big news, Latane! When are you moving? Do we have time to squeeze in a meeting for lunch at the Va. Diner???

  14. Congrats Latanne on your upcoming move. Downsizing is exactly what we are trying to do and living on one floor will be great. We are just waiting for the right folks to buy our 2-story home, first. I would keep the blog title unless you find one you like better, which would also be a good idea for your new lifestyle. Yeah on the less work too!

  15. Congratulations, Latane. I wish you the best of luck! Sounds like a grand idea. Jim and I think about it, too. We have 3 acres and an inground pool and a big garden and it gets to be way too much sometimes. There are other things to do in life and I think you have the right idea! As far as your name...I think I would leave it the same. You have so many followers now and you might lose some if they get the blog name confused.

I can not wait to see your new home.

  16. How wonderful, Latane! Your new place looks nice. I love that walking trail nearby.

I think you should keep the name of your blog--it has such a nice ring to it, and it's YOU. :-)

  17. It's beautiful, Latanne! I'm so happy for you! Good for you for down-sizing. Well done.
My ex-husband died in Feb. and my poor daughter has been clearing out his house. His wife, with dementia, is unable to do so. I've been purging and clearing out here, trying to declutter!

  18. LOVE all the pictures! Really gives us an idea of where you will be living! The announcement is wonderful (even if I already did know! :-) ) I really LOVe the apartments Mom! So awesome, and just perfect for your life now. DON'T change the name of the blog...you went through a spell where you changed the name a couple of times and I still see you on people's sidebars as Down the Rabbit Hole. Nope, I would leave it just as it is! Too confusing otherwise! :-)
