Blog Comments

I've got this puzzled look on my face, folks!

                              See....

Yep, there's something I can't figure out. I sure hope you can help me.

I've been on Blogger for several years now. I don't really remember what year I did join. I've never had a huge following. Lordy mercy, I couldn't keep up with everyone if I did!! So, I wasn't too worried about it.

But, then, the other day I was looking on one of those sites full of "HOW TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL BLOG" and stuff like that. I read that the Up and Coming trend in leaving a comment on someone else's blog is to not leave a comment at all. What the Heck!! No, you put your comment in an email and send it to the blogger that way.

Ever once in awhile I do hear from some of my followers through email. And, I'd think to myself, 'How sweet is that. They took the time to email me'.

Maybe I'm missing something here. I didn't know that those emailers were a part of a popular trend. Guess I am way behind in my thinking and doing.

So, Blogger Friends, how about you telling me how you prefer to receive your comments (in the comment box or by email)

Do I stay 'old school' cause I do love to see the comment right then and there and not have to go to my email box to find it. Or do I join in the newest fab/path/trend and jump on the emailing bandwagon?  Hey, maybe I'll just mix it up.

I do love getting comments, whether on my blog post or in an email and don't you gals (and guys) stop doing it. It would make me very sad.

  1. I guess I'm really behind the times as this is the first I've heard of that trend. I'm happy for comments any way they come, but for the most part I'm quite happy with getting them the old fashioned way. :)

  2. I like to read others comments - it builds a sense of community. E mail seems the route if you want privacy. Happy Thursday!

  3. Good Morning!
Well, I don't really know either, except for this-I always emailed because I "thought," that was how you were suppose to do it!
But just recently I started replying to the comment, so now I am doing it both ways...hehe:)

  4. I'm like Vicki, I like reading others' comments, too. I hope folks don't stop making comments. For me, I often comment to my commenters via email when I want to continue the conversation or I get a new follower. But, many bloggers have a "no-reply" in their return address, so those come to my email Inbox as such and I can't reply. But oh my gosh, I certainly hope comments don't go away or that my Inbox will fill up with Comments....not good for me!

  5. Hi Latane
I'm one of those many readers who read your blog faithfully, but never leave a comment. I enjoy your posts and your perky attitude. Keep up the good work with your blog. Charlene

  6. You do look puzzled! And I am too, especially after reading a post the other day of a blog friend who read another blog friend say that her readers did not like for the blogger to reply to their comments on the blog but wanted them emailed to them. Some evidently hated to have their comments replied to on the blog. Why? I don't understand.

How do you get a group conversation going otherwise? Or is that not what blogging is about anymore?

Someone let me know if they figure all this out, please, but maybe we should just continue to do what makes us happy?

  7. I get lots of comments on my ipad and can reply to them, but I still like to get comments on my blog.

  8. I do not like my email to get overloaded. Blogger automatically tells you when someone has posted something new or commented, anyway, and I can rarely find a personal email from a blogger because they tend to look exactly like those automatic postings. So I miss some of the blogger emails that way. I also prefer having my comments ON my blog post so I can read all the comments in one place and others can read them too.

  9. I'm with the original way too. Love to see comments left on my blog, and always leave my own comments on others' blogs. I do correspond via e-mail with some really close bloggers - usually ones I've met in person with whom I enjoy more detailed updates and personal stuff which I wouldn't put in a comment perhaps. I also love to read others' comments on my blog friends blogs. I do get a few e-mail 'comments' too but sometimes miss them because let's face it, we all get far too many e-mails to sort through.

Hope you can make sense out of all this. . . . . . just know Latane that I will continue to leave comments on your blog - and I'll look forward to seeing your comments on my blog when you feel like writing one. I don't like change - too old for it, haha!!!!

    Thanks and hugs, Mary

  10. You got me on that one. I know when I get a comment on my blog it shows up in my email that its there. But I don't think that's the same thing as what you are describing. I like to see comments on my blog because then I know people have read it and others can see that too.

  11. I like leaving my comments right here, Latane! I always have and seems so comfortable to me. Besides, some one set me up with a new email and I hate it.

  12. I enjoy getting comments on my blog. I rarely e-mail people. It just seems more time consuming to me.

  13. I like my comments on my blog, but then there are several that after we make comments, we email each other!

  14. Definitely like my comments in the comment box and not by email. I have gotten emails with comments before, but I much prefer seeing them posted on my blog.

  15. I like reading the comments of others. If I like the comment someone made, I often go to their blog to check it out too.

  16. I like the comments where everyone can read/comment if they want. However, when I use my iPad, the only way I can comment is with email. I really like your header, don't remember if I told you that already.

  17. Huh? First time I've heard this. I guess it must be a privacy issue, but like Carol (Art and Sand) wrote I like reading the comments from others and have found some great blogs and bloggers that way. (Love the photo, Latane. . .really cute.) ~ Nancy

  18. I vote for leaving a comment in a blog post AND if you want to also send a separate email to the blogger. I have done this especially when I wanted to ask about something that was in a post or just to add another bit of information to the blogger.

I hope you will visit often and leave a comment when you do. My blogging friends always put a smile on my face.
