Blood Moon and Peanut Pumpkin

It had rained for days so I was concerned that a cloud cover would obstruct the total moon eclipse for me last night. But, it didn't.

I had a front row seat... on my balcony...the moon just over the tree tops. It was fascinating. And, you know, it's not supposed to happen again in my lifetime, not unless I live to be 99. At which time I probably wouldn't give a hoot about a moon eclipse anyway.

I am linking with Through My Lens and Catching Light.

Here are my pictures of the eclipse:

There's a chunk out of the side of the moon.

Half done

and then, at it's finish... the blood moon.

On another note. This is for those of you who commented on my 'pink pumpkin dressed in lace'
in my last post. There was a picture of one in yesterday's paper. It's a galeaux d'eysines pumpkin commonly known as the peanut pumpkin. The outer skin is not pink as I had thought but pale orange (or so they said but I'll stick with my pink!!) The skin is covered with woody humps and bumps that resemble a peanut shell. So now we know!!

I sure hope you got to see the eclipse. It was awesome.

  9. You got excellent shots of last night's eclipse! Much better than ours. And I didn't know the name of that pumpkin, but we had one last year that I loved. I always look for the weird pumpkins!

  12. Your pictures are wonderful and I did see parts of the eclipse ... we had clouds that kept slipping over the moon so it was on and off the whole time ... very frustrating, but I am delighted that we saw any of it, as the weatherman had said "cloud cover" ... so glad they are right only half the time :) Very nice series, Latane ...

  13. Very nice moon shot, Latane. We went out to look for it, but the clouds were too thick. Missed it altogether.
