So, how's your week been? Mine? WET.
Friday means it's time for Willy Nilly Friday and Five On Friday. So, let's all join in these girls memes and have some fun.
1. Last night the weatherman upgraded the hurricane news for us. I was getting ready to hunker down in my apartment for a Category 4 hurricane but now they are saying it will stay out to sea. Let's have a hip-hip hoorah for that news.
2. Can anyone tell me what this plant is? It's rather large, growing in a pot outside the side door of the church I attend. But, so far I haven't been able to find out what it is. It looks like it has tiny little pumpkins on it!! Just in time for Halloween.

3. Doesn't this praying mantis look just like what it's called?
A walking stick!
4. Four of us here at the Commons hang out together and we have a lot of fun. Monday night we spent HOURS just chatting. Tuesday three of us went to see "The Intern" at the movie theatre. It was a good movie and I laughed and laughed. That's hard to do since movies nowadays are usually filled with violence and bad language. But, not this one! So cute, so entertaining.
5. It's allergy season again. Got up this morning with one eye all swollen and itchy. Last night the sinus pressure was so bad in one cheek that I thought I had a very bad tooth ache. With the changing of the seasons come pain for me and a lot of other 'hayfever' sufferers. POOH.
See you next Friday for five more 'interesting' facts about my week.
#1 Put rocks in your pockets so you don't blow away.
ReplyDelete#2 It's a red pumpkin vine!
#3 I haven't seen a praying mantis in a while.
#4 A busy bunch.
#5 Most days I can hardly breathe.

We are in the same weather pattern here. I hope they are right about it staying out to sea.
ReplyDeleteHow cool to have that adorable plant growing at your church. I grew it one year after finding the plant at a botanical garden sale. I think they called it pumpkin on a stick (although I'm sure that wasn't the real name).
I walked outside the other day and a praying mantis flew onto the front of my shirt. Quite a surprise since I rarely see them.
Glad to hear you liked the movie. I keep seeing ads for it and it looks like it would be entertaining.
Sorry to hear about your allergy issues. No fun!
Happy October and Happy weekend ahead.
Good morning! Awesome Friday Five. I am happy to hear that the hurricane won't be coming your way! I was a little worried. I am so happy you and your new "posse" are really enjoying each other, and you are having fun! Saw the new book club post...yay Marcia! I was going to post one and then saw hers....have about six books to review! :-) Sorry about your allergies...take care of yourself! Love you!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos for your Five on Friday - I see from your first comment that the plant is a pumpkin vine - it is so unusual and very seasonal looking. I hope the hurricane stays out at sea:)
ReplyDeleteSo glad the hurricane will be staying away. Such an unusual plant but very pretty, at first glance it looked like a tomato.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the hurricane won't hit hard. I learned recently a whole lot more about praying mantis' than I wanted to know. Did you know they can kill a hummingbird? I watched a youtube video and one where it was fighting with a cat. Crazy! Very cool pumpkin vine. Have never seen one of those before.
ReplyDeleteI hope the hurricanes keep well away from you, how frightening. That's such a colourful plant. Many thanks for your messages. Have a good week. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi, Glad to hear that the hurricane is going OUT to sea.. Bye Bye.... BUT--I also read that you all could still get lots of rain... SO---hopefully that won't happen now either...
ReplyDeleteWhen you and your pals go to a movie, be sure and see Big Stone Gap.... It comes out on Oct. 9---and looks like it will be an awesome little movie... Big Stone Gap is my hometown... I posted a blog about this movie today...
Hugs,
Betsy
It's going to miss us too and I'm with you on the allergies, fall ones are even worse than my spring ones.
ReplyDeleteNice plant!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a hurricane in real... hope, it will not come to you.
Allergy have always season, sigh!
Have a good weekend
I thought the plant was a persimmon, shows what I know as I have never heard of a pumpkin vine! Good news for you about the hurricane, I hope that it stays at sea as often the tail ends make their way over here to our part of the world! Thank you for joining Five On Friday. I hope that you have a great weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteVery encouraging news about that nasty old hurricane. May it stay well out to sea. I don't know what the plant is, though it sure is cute with those fruits. I have allergies, too, and get a lot of relief from eating local honey.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a tomato to me:) Though I'm sure it's not. I've seen so many photos of praying mantis lately. What on earth. I always heard that if they spit in your eye they would blind you. I don't get near enough.
ReplyDeleteAllegra is my saving grace during allergy season.
ReplyDeleteHope you all keep safe in the hurricane
ReplyDeleteBe safe and batten down those hatches. I hope everyone you love is safe and sound!
