It being so cold in Alabama, I have not had much of an opportunity to get out and do bird pictures. But, one day I got these.....
A coot on Wheeler Lake, Alabama
A Great Blue Heron on the same lake.
White Pelicans
White Pelicans, seagulls and coots
I live in coastal Virginia and all the pelicans I had seen were the brown ones. Yes, I was very excited to see the white ones and so many of them!
What happened here? It looks very different. I thought I was at Mary's! (Breath of Fresh Air) That is a lot of bird life on the lake. Now that you mention it, I have never seen a white pelican either nor a coot. A blue heron and seagulls yes.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great here by the way. I really like the header.
DeleteI change my blog header and background fairly often, usually seasonal or for holidays. I just don't keep things status quo.
DeleteBeautiful photos, a real pleasure to visit.
ReplyDeleteGreat Blue Herons are my favorite birds!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Great serie of birds! White Pelicans looking so noble and awesome.
ReplyDeleteI need to relearn my geography. I thought Alabama never got cold!
ReplyDeleteGood birds you saw. White pelicans must be pretty special. They would be to me.
oh, yes, we had snow and wind chill around zero degrees the weekend. Snow in the northern half of Alabama is not uncommon.
DeleteHello, wonderful variety of birds. The White Pelicans are one of my favorite birds. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Mom! So glad you were able to get out and see these. Are the temps beginning to warm up there some?

ReplyDeleteWonderful shots of the birds.
ReplyDeleteI would have been excited to see those White Pelicans too. We saw one flock of Pelicans once in the 15 or so years I've been in Vancouver. That was in May 2009. I've gone back to read my blog post about it. Still remember the thrill.. they were white in colour, so I guess they would be White Pelicans. Your heron and your coot are lovely. We seem them here as well and love them. Thank you for inspiring a happy memory!
