Getting Rid of Clutter

I'm so excited... it's Friday and I am 'on a roll' to get the closet cleaned out that is in my office/workroom. Yesterday was very productive.

1. So far (and I still have work to do) I have managed to eliminate this clutter from my overloaded closet.

2. I sold a Cricut that I have seldom used and has been taking up space that I need. What could be better than that?

3. All this came about because I had a big breakthrough as to what was causing me so much stress and angst. It was my mind telling me I wanted and had to do all this stuff before I got too old and my body was telling me, 'hey, you are already old and you can't do all of that'. It took a revelation of manic portion but that's when I started cleaning out my closet... and eliminating a lot of 'want tos'. There just comes a time in your life when you have to do that!

4. Now, I can sit on my balcony.. alone, with my daughter, with my fellow, I can do whatever I want and watch the world go by. Lovely!!

5. I still have enough to keep me busy, as busy as I want but what a load off my back to get rid of all the extra and concentrate on what I want.

You all have a lovely week. I am linking to Tanya's Willy Nilly Friday and Five On Friday

  1. I have lots of good intentions about decluttering, but I never seem to get round to it. Well done!

    1. Debbie, it's the funniest thing... we often dress alike even though we don't know in advance what the other is wearing. Like minds, I guess

  4. Oh how awesome you were able to sell the Cricut! Well, it looks like you are "on your way" to a less complicated, stressful life, and I am so glad, Mom!

  5. I have great intentions about decluttering. I had to go through so many things when my hubby died, that I think it will just take time for me to get going again! It might also be a slight case of lazy! Ha! A big Well Done to you! Enjoy the balcony! Happy Friday!

  6. I am a pathological DO-er, I can't help but find things that I wan to do, it definitely adds to all the clutter though, I've lost count of the amount of times I've kept hold of something for years with every intention of doing it but never actually getting round to it!

  7. I have been on a "simplification" mode of cleaning out clutter since January 1. I have a long way to go, but it makes me feel good every time I take a bag of stuff out the door.

  8. Great job on the decluttering! I've been working on it. Some things I find really easy to get rid of. I'm having trouble with books - I have so many, they seem to be everywhere but I can't seem to get rid of them! All are ones I want to read but can't sit reading them all day lol.

    Happy Five on Friday

  9. Good for you! It feels so liberating to know the clutter is gone and you can make a fresh start for you!
Love that you and your daughter are dressed so alike!

  10. Isn't it a wonderful feeling when such a big job is finished?! I am working my way through my home, on a similar mission, because I am hoping to downsize to a smaller house next year. I certainly don't want to take "all of it" with me! Have a restful weekend.. Enjoy your success! :)

  13. Thrilled to hear that you were able to declutter and it has made you feel so much better. We have been decluttering due to a move of home but it has been hard decisions, decisions...

  14. Always good to have a declutter, it's so easy to accumulate lots of things that might be useful one day but never are.

  15. I turned 50 this past year, but #3 is applicable to me as well. I will never live long enough to do all the things I've started or "planned to do." Even if the good Lord gave me extra time...have a wonderful weekend.

  16. How lovely to recognize that and do something about it. Enjoy your new freedom. I've been doing my own declobbering over the past couple of years. It's been fun realizing that it truly does get easier to take care of my home now that I've gotten rid of the extraneous.

    Wishing you a beautiful week...

  17. Good for you! I am getting to the place where I am making these decisions, too. Doubtful that I am going to "get to" making that quilt after all.

  18. Please don't tell me I can't read all my books, crochet all my patterns, cook all my recipes, finish the ebooks I'm writing, finish my travel goals, finish putting all my old 33 rpm records on my computer, and lose weight and get fit. I won't be 80 until next month, and I only need about 40 more years to get everything finished, so I'm keeping my "stuff".

By the way, I'm sure I ordered the wrong book. You said "Without Reservations" was one of your favorite books. When I checked the library, I grabbed the first one, but it's "Without Reservation", and I love it. How a defunct Indian tribe in Connecticut built a huge casino and got rich (with a little fudging, finagling, and deceptive help from their attorneys and politicians). Totally fascinating.

  19. I agree, Latane, that de-cluttering can make us feel good. This weekend, I attended a presentation at our local library about this very topic and while I really did know all the tips presented and then some, it spurred me to start doing me getting rid of "stuff." That's what I did today by going through all our office supplies and categorizing them into labelled storage containers. And, some items will be going to the local thrift store this week. There's still more sorting to do, but every time I make progress it feels good. I know you agree!

  20. I know that feeling! It's hard to let it go sometimes, so knowing things are going to a home that someone else will enjoy them, and even making a little bit of money on them is perfect!! I will look forward to seeing what comes out of our container in Bangkok, I am hoping I will be able to do more decluttering when I open the boxes. Remember the Marie Kondo mantra "does it bring me joy"?!
    Happy Wednesday!

  22. I can so identify with this. There are so many things I want to do, but not enough hours in a week to do them all.
