A Little Space For Me!

I do get immersered in my painting!

Over the past couple of years I have made it a top priority in my life, fulfilling a dream I once had, let go and now found again.

My apartment is small, just over 900 square feet, big enough for me but not big enough to handle my desire to oil paint. Where would I put them to dry? Where would I store the finished product?

So, I do watercolors. And, here is my workspace... a folding table in my office. It's perfect!

The green cup to the left is filled with water to wash my brushes. And, I've been known to have a cup of tea handy to sip on. One day I wasn't watching what I was doing and dipped my brush filled with paint into my cup of tea!! And, I then took a sip. Lordy, what will I do next!! he he.

  1. Latane, that's not quite as bad as what my grandma did. She dipped snuff and one winter day as she was sewing, it was told for the truth that she meant to spit in the fireplace and put her pattern on the bed, but got the two confused and did the opposite!

  2. Just perfect, Latane....quiet and peaceful! Actually, it looks very welcoming to me. Your water colors are beautiful. I have enjoyed them so much! I am just getting over a virus! It was not good but at least it was not the flu...no coughing and no temp. I still know I need to and want to catch up with you.

  3. You've made yourself a neat little space. Whenever you show anything you've painted I admire it and can't help wishing I had some talent in that area but I don't.

  4. Paint in the tea! Reminds me of a practical joke from years ago. I am not naming any names here, but a guy in the office put a thin coat of Vaseline just inside the rim of another guy's coffee cup. You can imagine what a face he made when he took that first sip of coffee!
It is raining here today, so I made a quick trip to the library to get a few books to read. Hope you have sunshine!

  5. Latane, I am so glad to see you have a work space for yourself. YOU are important. Keep painting away....

  7. Funny story and I know we have all done something similar. Your work space is small, but looks like it works well for you as we need to make use of the space we have for our enjoyments.

  8. It's a lovely spot to paint. Do you work from photos, or out of your head?

  9. I drank 'paint-coffee' quite some times... it's just the way artist work: paint both on the inside and outside proves you're a real artist!!! Happy woyww, warm hug from Holland. Marit #26

  10. At least it wasn't lead based paint you accidentally drank!! I do love your little nook of a workspace - in the Welsh language, that would be called a 'CWTCH' (pronounced Cootch) which means a little space or a cuddle.

  11. Hi Latane, lovely little workspace! Dipping brushes into coffee is a common crafter error, I think! Have a lovely week, hugs, Shaz #11 XxX

  12. Hi Latane, you are definitely not the first (or last) artist to drink/dip into the wrong cup. At least it was watercolour and not a glue brush or one with acrylic paint lol. Have a good week. Sarah #23

  14. I think we've all dipped our brush in the coffee/tea cup at some point! You have a lovely space to create, and you don't have to deal with smelly oil paints! Have a great week, Lindart #38

  15. You've made the most of your small space. It is very common to dip your brush in your coffee or tea. I don't think you are considered an artist until you do!

  16. We just have to make the most of the space we have and I think you've done just that. Have a great woyww, Angela x17x
