Meet Owen M.

Today is Thankful Thursday and Little Things

Since April is Autism Awareness Month, I'd like to introduce you to a part of my family. My grandson Owen has autism. He's a smart young man unable to express his ability or use it to make his life good. He's a sweet, loving guy. He just wants to be part of this world and that is why I am posting this. Please watch the video. That's my daughter and her family and a brief glimpse into their life with autism.

Most people don't know about autism. They have heard about it, but they don't really understand how it affects the person who has it, the family who cares for and loves them or the people they come in contact with. Like I say, please watch the video.

I am so thankful for Owen, for what he has taught us, for the impact he's had on our lives. I am so thankful that I am his Grandma. Happy Birthday, Owen (April 12th)

  1. Oops...just lost my comment as you were editing... Oh well, that usually means that what I had to say wasn’t necessary. I will say, however, that Owen and his parents and brothers are amazing people. Thank you for the chance to “meet” them.

  4. A wonderful video of Owen and his family. I worked many years with learning disabled and Autistic students. I continue to be friends with their families, after their children have grown up. All people, know matter their capabilities, have something to offer our world. Thank you for linking up today, Latane.

  6. Owen and his family are amazing. I have an autistic grandson. As much as I would like for him to be perceived as 'normal' by society, I can't imagine him any other way. He is an amazing boy, growing into an amazing young man. I love him just the way he is. Thank you for sharing the video.

  8. My husband's cousin has an autistic child. He is in first grade, but has difficulty coping in the regular classroom. He is spending more time with the special education teacher than his regular teacher. He is a very sweet child, but gets frustrated very easily.
    Happy Birthday to Owen!

  12. I've had quite a few students on the Autism Spectrum Disorder scale. We were given a lot of workshops on managing kids in the classroom.
Good for your kids for advocating for the cause. Well done.
