Mine are keeping me so entertained. But, it's hard to take a picture. They are so skiddish!!
I do manage to get some now and then.
Just when you wish you had your camera it's nowhere to be seen. The other night hummer #1 was busy taking his fill of nectar when hummer #2 flew in an attempt to run #1 off. Well, #1 was having none of it. He gripped that support with his feet tight as could be. Then he leaned back til he was totally horizonal!! I couldn't believe it. I had never seen one do that. But, #1 was not giving up his dinner. He remained in that position, very still, until #2 flew off quite disgusted he had failed. Yep, where was that camera!

Don't worry Latane. All birds are hard to photograph, never mind constantly moving hummers. But your photos are fine, especially for those of us who never see hummingbirds.
ReplyDeleteThose are great photos!
ReplyDeleteMy Hummers come right up to me when I don't have my camera with me, but if I have the camera, ZIP - they are gone!
Hope you are having a beautiful week!
Love your hummer story so much! That is such interesting behavior. Your photos are wonderful! I tried to get my first shot this morning but not being used to seeing me on the porch, the hummingbird was very skittish and the one shot I got was out of focus. I have to keep trying! :-)
ReplyDeleteThey are sneaky and cheeky all at the same time.... gotta love it.
ReplyDeleteawww, lucky you, your pictures are GREAT!! i have my feeders out and filled, they have been seen in the area, but not at my house yet!!!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see Latane, thank you.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Hummingbirds are so hungry and so very territorial. They would want 10 feeders all for themselves. LOL. Love your pictures. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI LOVE hummingbirds. I've had my feeder up for about a month, but saw the first one a couple of days ago. He sits on the fence below the feeder as if standing guard. I've only seen one other and he was quickly dispatched. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThe Hummingbird is beautiful and my favorite bird. What a sweet one this is with a bit of red on its neck. It matches the feeder. Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos, Latane. The Hummingbird is beloved to me.

ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet! Yes, they are hard to photograph.
